I woke up this morning to rain!!!! Not massive gully washer rain but it was wet and it was amazing to see. I should have realized something was up. I am normally an excellent sleeper but for the past few weeks it's been too hot do really do a good job. Last night, however, my good skills came out and I had a wonderful sleep.

It's the rain and the cool. Ahhhhhhhh Wonderful. It's stopped now and I suspect that we're done for now and probably for weeks but I will remember. It was good.

The Yankees didn't beat us last night. We just lost. Two errors in one inning made all the difference. We cannot afford errors - not in Yankee stadium. It's supposed to rain there today all day long so I'm guessing our game today will be rained out. It may well be the only way we can avoid losing. Sigh.

I may take a stroll downtown to Barnes and Noble. My manager gave me two $25 gift cards. I'd rather have deeply discounted used books for regular reading but maybe I can find something that is hard to get used for a good price. I'm going to start with the knitting books.

But, now I think I'll make some breakfast...

To celebrate the Mariners victory over the Yankees, I decided to do the downtown trip. I took my two $25 gift cards and went to Barnes and Noble. Across the parking lot to the bus tunnel, free bus to the center of town.

I gotta say, downtown Seattle is pretty alive. It was sure hopping this afternoon.

It's been a while since I've actually shopped in a real live bookstore and I gotta say the old search, point and click way is a whole lot simpler. Our downtown Barnes and Noble is pretty big and overwhelming. But, I ended up doing ok.

1 knitting book - kind of an encyclopedia. 3 novels - two sale hardbacks and a paperback. Two authors I've never heard of but look promising and an old favorite with a title I'd never read. Plus a box of little thin pens that were cute. $52.04. Not too bad, eh?

And I was quite proud of myself. I keep a list of books that I want to buy if I find a good deal and a database of books that I have read (a mirror of the db on my website) on my Treo. While wandering around today I found both very useful.

After B&N I decided to just wander and around and see what's what. What's what is that it is hot and muggy and my $52.04 worth of purchases were heavy. So I found the other end of the bus tunnel and tunneled home.

I've had my exercise for the day.

There is a preseason football game in the stadium tonight and the crowds are already gathering.

Where is my ass going to be you ask? Remember the new chair from last weekend... You can connect the dots without me on that one...

The teddy bears are quite popular - so popular that it led to a rare sharing moment.
