I got the place cooled down enough last night to turn off the air conditioner and get by with only the ceiling fan. Good sleeping and work didn't call. I'm ahead so far.

I need to add my latest jigsaw puzzles to the puzzle pages on my website. The collection is taking up quite a bit of space and has now pushed me over my limit on that web host. I have another, cheaper host service that I use so I looked into getting more space there. I currently pay $45 a year for 400MBs. I notice they are now selling packages of 850 MBs for $55 a year. So I wrote and asked what was the best deal they could cut me for giving me more space. They wrote back that within the next 60-90 days they will be retooling current customer accounts with new storage so I'll have 850MBs at no extra charge! I can handle that... If you are looking for a hosting company, Total Choice Hosting is sure a good one.

Meanwhile, they popped an extra 100 MB's into my account so I could move the puzzles in the meantime. I guess there's no excuse for not doing it now! I'm going to do a little revamping of the pages and add the new puzzles in probably this morning. If I were smart, I'd pop the photos and the puzzle exe's into a database and have the pages built that way. But, I it's too hot.

Costco at 9:30 and here's my list:

bacon
sausage links
mayo (only if they have the sqeeze bottles)
steaks
pork?
ice cream?
body wash
dishwasher soap
toilet paper
chapstick

That's the plan...

My Costco trip was fairly successful. They didn't have ice cream???? But they did have my in-ceiling light bulbs that they stopped carrying for a while. They only had the variety pack of chapstick and I don't like variety plus the price was not that good so I passed. They did have squeeze bottle mayo which they only carry in Summer. I stocked up. I got in and out before the crowds. It was good.

Oh and they are showcasing a friend of mine's latest book. He's not really a friend - more someone I used to know before he got famous. We used to shop at the same bookshop and ran into each other a lot. He was a high school teacher - an old curmudgeon who used to wander the aisles muttering 'I could do better than this crap'. And, one day, he did! He wrote a first book and sold it and got a contract for three more and then his stuff really caught on. He's done about a dozen now. Long ago retired from teaching and now has a big poster on the book stack at Costco. Wild. G. M Ford. If you like mysteries, he's worth a read. His earlier books are ok but his later ones are very good.

I got home and put the cold stuff in the fridge and sat down to read LJ and cool off. The cell phone rang. I just knew it was the office. I had figured they would call the minute I got deep into Costco but they didn't. But, the voice was female and British - a very American British but British. The people who would call from the office are not only American but also male. She said "This is Zoe from upstairs and I found your bag."

Interesting, isn't is how accent can determine meaning. I knew instantly that she meant my purse. Without the accent I would have thought a shopping bag or garbage bag. But, it was, indeed my purse which I hadn't even missed yet! She brought it right to me. I was really grateful. Zoe's a good egg I don't know really well. She's a lipstick lesbian paired up with a very scary holistic dentist who no longer works because she's on mental disability. Sherry and Lee call her Dawn the Daffy Dentist. She and Zoe separated a couple of years ago for a while and just about the time we were all set to get chummy with Zoe, they got back together again. Oh well.

The rest of today shall be devoted to staying cool. I can do it.

I should have taken this inside the store... but you get the drift.

I just watched the strangest little movie. The Station Agent. No real plot and non-stars for the tiny cast and it was amazingly charming. It was perfect for an afternoon of staying cool.
