I had a wonderful time last night at Kieran's and Alan's. They are so nice and such fun. We saw all their pictures from their month in Paris/London/Amsterdam. And we had the most wonderful dinner. They set a beautiful table and last night we had menus! It's my kind of fete - elegant table, delicious food and wine but you don't have to dress up!

Kieran also, as it turns out, knows the skippy on buying individual health insurance in Washington and he said he'd help me figure out what to do. I am paying way too much now and have two other options. I cannot figure out which is the best bet. He said he'd do it for me! Whew.

My cold is, as it turns out, a 10 day job. I keep thinking that if I just ignore it, it will go away. Not so. I sounded like a fog horn last night and this morning I am a major snot factory. Major Ick and Yuck.

I scored a little victory on the makeover front. I did hear back from the building manager on the cart front and he said that he had a couple that were still even in the box and why didn't I just take one of those, keep it for the duration and then just give it back when I'm done! Perfecto!! I got it yesterday and putting it together is really a two person operation as opposed to a one person, two cat operation but I'm making progress. My battery screw driver ran out of juice so as soon as it restores itself, I can finish that up.

Sheri came over yesterday and took all the "before" pictures and measured every nook and cranny. So this morning I can dig in and start with the tossing. First some breakfast and then I'm going to get to work.

Here's the menu from last night. It was all heavenly delicious.

I finally got that damn cart put together. And then the loading....

Top picture is the first load down to the car. It's one whole bookshelf - I saved 1.5 shelves of stuff out of 6. I'm proud. The next load (below) is more books, and knickknacks and a bunch of stuff from storage on the terrace and some other stuff.

Part of the complication is that I can roll the shit down the hall and into the elevator and down to the 1st floor. But it is not a straight shot out the door - out the front, there is lot of uneven (tiled) floor and a couple of major bumps and then the curb out in front. Out the back you have to roll all around to the end of the garage where there are no steps. My car is parked one level below - too steep to roll this stuff down. So I have to go get the car, drive it up to the street and park it. Then go get the cart and roll it over to the car, load it up, put the car back, come back up here, get the next load and do it all again.

But, I got it done and off to the Goodwill I went. The main Seattle Goodwill is very near here and pretty handy. And it's nice to piece the work out this way. Now I've done my quota for today and I'm going to take the rest of the day off.

I'm beat up. Tomorrow... the bedroom closets, I think. At least the stuff won't be so heavy.

Tossing is getting a little easier. I just hit a drawer that had, among other things, Vicks 44 with an expiration date of 1999. And I really don't need 6 different crappy headphones with rotten foam ear things. And AC thingies for stuff I haven't had in forever. And about 30 cassettes of film. I now have the cart half full again. I think I can make my quota for tomorrow.

I'm also getting a good handle on what is keep worthy.

In between it's been TV vegging. And that's been my day and likely to be my weekend.

I'm going to sleep good tonight!
