Carpet recovery
May. 5th, 2005 10:00 amBut, it looks lovely. I did manage to get a fair representation of yesterday's action for anyone who cares and may have missed it.
I talked to Sheri briefly yesterday and she's all over how nearly done we are... I'm seeing no shelves, no desk, no place to put files, or mugs, no window seat and that's just the stuff she hasn't addressed recently. I suppose if someone had told me in January that this redecorating would mean 6 months of really not very tolerable living conditions, I probably wouldn't have done it so it's just as well. But it does get depressing at times.
I need to focus on the good... And, speaking of good, Sheri did bring over the new ceiling fan and said she had someone to install it and do the other installation things - it will be nice to have a towel rack again - 'in the next few days' which in Sheri-speak means 'I haven't the vaguest clue when but I know you are anxious so I'm going to sound like it's soon so you won't tear me a new one.'
Man, I keep veering off the good here... The good is the ceiling fan. Just reading the box is a thrill. My current ceiling fan is a Hunter that my neighbor installed 13 years ago. It was never seated right and operates with two hanging chains (guaranteed to hit you in the face) one for light and one for fan. Using either one of the chains knocks the fan out of seat and makes it rattle until I can get on the latter and get up there and twist it back into place. So. I generally turn the fan on to high speed at the first of May and don't touch it again until the end of October. The light is not usable during this time. Very handy. And it is white so that all of the city dirt and grit that it collects over those months shows up beautifully as a decorative black rim on the blades.
My new ceiling fan has a remote control (this will be hard to hit my face with but I could try, I guess). I will be able to set the fan to come on at a certain temperature!!!!! And the light to come on at a certain time!!!! Heaven. Magic. Mystical even. And beautiful. $150.
