Early Days
Nov. 2nd, 2007 12:51 pmThe downside of getting up early to get more work done is that you have more time to fuck more stuff up. So I did. It's not totally my fault but still I hate it.
And it's going to get worse before it gets better. We have one major launch next week and two minor launches that probably will get out of control. Everybody's a little stressed. This is when it's good to be working here by myself. I can only guess at the level of franticness, I don't have to actually see it or hear it or smell it.
--
I am not a basketball fan. I lived in North Carolina and South Carolina. I have served my basketball time. Plus in the early 90's I worked, very briefly, for a PR firm that did work for the Seattle Sonics. So it is with a high degree of snootyness and disdain that I have watched the proceedings over the past couple of years. This guy from Oklahoma City bought the Sonics a couple of years ago. Now, even I know that Oklahoma City would give away a Sooner to get an NBA team. So when a guy from Oklahoma City buys the team, I know the team will be moved to Oklahoma City. But, apparently, I am the only one. The land of denial is fully populated at this point. I keep getting BREAKING NEWS emails about court cases and city proclamations and NBA requests. And I have only signed up for general breaking news. Not sports breaking news. It's all getting pretty hilarious.
--
I am out of corn candy. I have unlimited capacity for corn candy consumption. I can eat other candies in moderation but not corn candy. I know the stores all have it on sale now but I think I'll see if I can do without.
--
Travis says purrrrr and I have to get back to work - the massive upload that allowed me this break time is finished.

The sweet end of a sucky day
Nov. 2nd, 2007 05:24 pmOk, none of my days really suck. But some of them have more stress than others. Today was full of stress and I am sooooo glad to be on be on the ass end of it. I have lots of work for the weekend but, hopefully, I can use that time to get all caught up.
--
Travis and Betty are so funny over dinner. I use little saucers and give each of them 1/6th of a small can of food. Yep, it's about a forkful each and they pick. Each goes to a dish and start in. Then one will back away and move to the other's dish. About that time the other one will also switch dishes. Let's all make sure the other one didn't get something better!!
--
Travis is so adorable 98% of the time but he still has small bouts of killer kitty. He attacks whatever is sticking out - my foot, my knee, my leg, my hand and he won't stop. Last night he came perilously close to getting shut up in the bathroom. My body is his scratching post. I found a small misting bottle. He will now learn the power of the water.
But, when he's adorable? He's so adorable it hurts. Like when he's trying to wake up and can't. He falls over in the funniest positions. I spend a lot of time with my legs folded Indian style and the laptop tray on my knees. He loves that well made by my heels and crotch. He crawls in there under the laptop and turns himself into a ball. It's soooo cute.

I am going to enjoy this evening knitting and watching junk tv.
