Slacker!

I slept late.  I stayed in bed and played on the computer and with Travis and then I got up and made bacon and eggs and had a great breakfast. I listened to the Capital Steps July 4th show   I just downloaded David Sedaris' talk that was on the radio last night and now I'm listening to it (on the radio - via an SD card - love this).

I was thinking about going down to SouthCenter which is a giant shopping are about 20 minutes (on a non-traffic) day like today.  I haven't been there in a while and today might be just the day to go.  I think some stores will be open and, hopefully, the rest of the world will be barbecuing somewhere.  If I go, I need to time it carefully.  The baseball game starts at 1 so I need to be home by 11:30 or after 2.  It's too late to go and be home by 11:30.

I do think tonight I'm going to go up and see if I can't find a Chinese restaurant open for dinner.

No work today but maybe some tomorrow.  Just a nice slacker day.

Why is it that during winter, stores just love to crank up the heat to broiling knowing that shoppers will have worn coats into the store.  Yet in summer they get all Save the World Green and turn the air conditioning down to We Don't Want You To Think We Even Have Air Conditioning???  Fuck.

So I'm hot but I'm good.  I did actually have a good time wandering around looking in real stores as opposed to online stores.  Kind of fun for a change.

A woman in JoAnn's fabrics standing in the checkout line behind me said 'Do you have a coupon?'  I said no and she pulled out a 10% off everything coupon!  I had $50 worth of stuff so when I checked out I took her a $5 bill which I had to insist she take and finally got her with 'put it in her piggy bank' - her being this really kind of cute about 3 year old with her.

I tried to buy gas three times on the way home.  The first place wanted me to go inside to authenticate.  NFW.  Too hot.  The second place didn't take credit cards - only debit and cash.  I finally hit pay dirt with the third place.  Cheese and Crackers - not sure it should be that difficult...

My project manager sent me an email this morning saying no work today, maybe some tomorrow.  When I got home there was a note saying 'I lied, here's some.'  Perfect cause really I can do it now or do it later or do it tomorrow but I got it to do when I want.  Nice.

I think I'll do it now.  And the Mariners are winning!

So I ventured out in the heat and humidity to get my International District fix.  I gave it two tries and failed.  Oh well.

I first went to Ocean City which is a very large place that looks kind of touristy.  They were closed but they have a small noodle shop next door that was open and kind of breezy.  So I went in there.  The service sucked.  I ordered pork with cashews.  It was horrible. It tasted like Chung King out of a can.  It finished about 18th of it, paid and left.  I was tired.  It was hot.  So I went on to Uwajimaya (the Japanese grocery) and figured I'd get something off their hot food line.

I shopped for my apples (only $1.39 per pound!!) and then went on to the food court.  Their hot line was closed.  Sigh.  There's a Thai place there that used to be good.  The last couple of times I had tried it, it wasn't that good.  Someone told me that it had gotten better again.  So I got some noodles and garlic chicken with a spring roll and brought it home.  It was certainly better than the Ocean City try, but I think I will not be trying them again.

Sigh.

Ya can't win 'em all.

And now I've cooled off.  Time for TV.
