Another gym accident!!! The fucking pulley machine bit me! And I now have a blood filled blister on my finger. I would be a little more devastated except that 1) it does not hurt and 2) Tija gave me a Sponge Bob Square Pants band-aid.

Otherwise the session was great! The program last time was great but this one is better! I can do everything and can do it well enough that I do do it with extra repeats. Even lunges! I'm saving this one for the next time she gives me a sucky one.

Again there were plenty of people there and Tuesdays are usually deserted. January.

Shower.

Green elephant. That's the back of his head you see there. I haven't decided what color his feet and hands will be yet...

It has been more than 50 degrees out for many many days now and there is still a 4-5 foot pile of snow surrounding the light poles in the Qwest Field parking lot.

The Mariners' broadcasting schedule is so far showing major foo signs. The website is either wrong or leaving out major info. The radio station that bought the games is using FM for the Spring Training games (this is actually good news) and AM for the regular season games (this is screwed up). The Google group calendar has not been updated for 2009 and the TV schedule is AWOL entirely. Do not fuck with my baseball. Please?

I know there is a never-before-used shower curtain liner in this house. What I do not know is where it is. The only sure fire way to find it is to go buy a new one. I'm guessing the current one will show it's plastic holes within a week of buying a new one.

There is a new and so far reviewed favorably burger joint near here. Just north of Costco in a new little tiny strip mall. I have it on the list of things to do.

The replacement USB backup drive arrived today instead of tomorrow like UPS promised. What's up with that?? Backup now happening. I'll do one onto that USB drive and one onto another spare drive I have and then probably do the Windows 7 install.

Since I gave up reading the local daily newspaper in print form (that's gotten to be a rather cumbersome way to identify something that used to be able to be done in one or two words) - I've found a lot of very satisfying news sources that I now consult daily. I'm loving all of them but geesh it's a real time soaker. I just got capsule coverage of an important local governmental meeting going on this morning - in tweets. I'll get the full story later but I love getting the tweets. I'm fascinated to conjure on what all daily news gathering/disseminating will look like in 2 and 5 and 10 years.

Stephen Lynch - my favorite comedian/performer of all - is doing a concert in Seattle in May. It's at a small theater downtown. I don't know how I'm going to get home (probably cab) after but I am going to figure out some way because I'm going to have to go.

The annual boat show is loading up into the Qwest Field parking lot. I already know what the next two weeks will bring - endless TV news stories that go like this:

Cute but clueless reporters standing with mike in front of boats asking beer guzzling dudes how the horrible economy is affecting the boat show. The dudes will say that attendance is down and no one has sold a boat since Moses was a boy but that they have some sweet deals so Come On Down!!!!

They should just go get a boat and do the segment now.

I need to check the website and see when the boat show is over...

Windows 7

The install is done and Windows 7 with a new version of IE 8 are all installed. Interesting.

I did an upgrade (rather than a clean install). It first did a look at what I had and came back with a list of stuff that would likely fuck up. The only thing on the list for me was a Logitech camera that I no longer even own.

I wish Vista/Windows7 had a way for me to plug in a device - like - 'gimme all webcams' and then return all of the drivers and software and let me delete what I no longer want. There is one web cam that I have and want to install that won't install on this machine (it installs on my other Vista machine with no problems) and I know it's because of some kind of competing driver situation. But, I digress.

The nice thing about the install is that once I got it going, it did not need me at all until it got nearly done and wanted my Key. There were a couple of times when I could have rebooted before it timed out and did it itself but no need.

The only snafu at all was one that kind of sent me into a panic. I have two monitors. For some reason, on the install, Windows 7 decided it wanted monitor B to be monitor A. My mouse would not work on Monitor A. Using the keyboard I managed to get the goods over to monitor B where I discovered that now the monitors were swapped. To move the mouse from the left hand monitor to the right hand monitor, I had to move it to the left. It actually took me a long time to figure out this was happening. Back into the properties, switched A and B and whew, all was fine.

The first website that IE8 did not particularly care for was gmail but when I hit the compatibility button, that sorted itself out.

I need to read up on what goodies are lurking but all seems hunky dory.

It really hosed up my mouse action. I have a Microsoft Arc mouse which I really like except now. It's like it stripped the gears off the wheel. It's a little better now than it was earlier so maybe it's a learning thing.

And it changed my default mail-is-here wav. It took me a bit to figure that out but once I did, fix was easy.

Everything else is working fine, it seems. The look is a little different - a little nicer. And it seems a little easier to find stuff.

In general, so far, so good!
