When the economy tanked, I lost a ton o' dough. All the money I had invested to provide for my retirement shrunk like a new wool sweater tossed in the laundry with the undies. It was pretty shocking but, since I had food on the table and a really nice roof over my head and a job that pays me regularly, it was scary but not terrifying.
My silver bullet was the guy who handles my investments. I am shockingly stupid about high finance. And I'm amazingly lucky to have such brilliant people giving me financial advice.
The CPA just called with the preliminary view of my income taxes. Because of some fancy footwork with taxable and non-taxable asset allocation (already, I have no clue what I'm talking about) 2 years ago, I had so much to deduct that they couldn't even apply all of it last year and it was sitting there waiting for me this year.
So even with the surprise stock sale from that dot com this year, I still am likely to get a refund instead of paying the $5K I was expecting! The refund won't likely be enough to pay the CPA bill but that's ok dokey. I'm just happy not to have to pay a giant wad. Sorry, Barak. I know you need it but...
Whew.
Even before this great news, I've had a lovely day. I watched my Netflix DVD of Season 4 Big Love. The laundry is done and put away. I updated the OS on my Chrome machine and cleaned up the kitchen.
Now I'm going to do a quick vacuuming of this desk area where I just enjoyed some crackers that were so crisp the crumbs went flying. I just turned this keyboard over and banged it a half dozen times and got so many crumbs, I am amazed the damn thing still works! Yikes.
Then I'll go down and get the mail. Just a nice, lazy Saturday.
