Gym Report

The gym report starts with my foot report. Last night it was really hurting - the lump on arch. So I sent a note to the physical therapist I'd talked to before and she replied immediately with the suggestion to go see a podiatrist and gave me the name of her favorite. I called this morning and the earliest he can see me is 3/21.

So... I may search out another but I may just use the time to monitor.

In that vein, I declared today triathlon day. Walking over to the gym in my shoes (last night I was barefoot) was not nearly as painful as last night. It was a little uncomfortable but not more. The treadmill was the same. I could feel it but it wasn't prohibiting. I couldn't even feel it on the elliptical or bike (recumbent).

Maybe it's some kind of collection of stuff that I can dissipate without intervention. That's what I'm shooting for.

The last time I had issues with my Comcast internet, this great technician watched my line for a while and was able to totally see the intermittent failure and make sure the right people got on the fix.

The problem then was that the signal kept getting dropped. I've got that same problem now. The Comcast signal to my modem keeps flickering off and on. The modem is fine. The router is fine. And, if I were doing recreational internetting, I'd never notice.

But, every time it sneezes I lose my RAS connection so I really really really notice and it's driving me nuts!!

Last time this was also accompanied by pretty slow internet speeds. So that when all the other Comcast subscribers got home from work and tried to log on, they couldn't so that helped Comcast understand the urgency of getting it fixed.

This time, there is some degradation of speed but not a whole lot. But I am absolutely losing connection about 4 times an hour.

I just called and had them reboot my modem on their end and check it. Of course, they could see no problem. The guy told me to install Norton's and replace the modem. I said thank you and hung up.

That great technician from last time gave me his name and phone number and told me to call if it happened again. I had that piece of paper around forever and could have sworn I transferred the info someplace before I tossed it but I have no idea where and, of course, now can't find it. I think his work week ended on Wednesdays anyway.

Creappity crap crap crap.

This morning, I found this store that 'splains a lot.

Pioneer Square board hears about development plan for Qwest Field lot

Neighbor Ann is on that board. She came by yesterday afternoon to get a personal glimpse of what was happening. (Her unit faces the other way - west).

Interestingly, on Monday when the trucks first rolled in, I sent an email to the Crostcut news address and asked them what was going on in the lot. Have to say, I'm impressed with their reporting!

I got a call about 5:45 from a tech guy (who was on some kind of magical phone line - the call was so clear that I thought maybe he was out in the hallway). He ran a bunch of tests and, of course, couldn't find squat. Even thought my internet access got dropped 3 times while I was on the call.

He's sending out a field guy and a network guy. They should be here any time now. I do not have a good feeling about this. I think it's one of those needle in a haystack issues. At least it's routine enough to almost be workable. Every 15 minutes now, it tosses me off corpnet. So at least I will know tomorrow to log on, work fast, and know in 15 minutes, I'm going to have to do it again. It could be worse.

Meanwhile I just got an email from the guy to whom I first went to for help (after my initial call went south) on Twitter. Nice. Very nice.

----

My new favorite thing (yeah, Oprah's done with hers, I'm starting mine) is EOS lip balm.

I saw this young girl using it on the train the other day. And I was intrigued by the form factor. So I found some for me and I love it. I wish they had a non-flavor but the mint is ok. It's easy to find in my purse, or on my desk or here by my chair. It just makes me happy.

And, finally, that foot thing? It does not hurt nearly as badly tonight as it did last night... possibly there's hope?
