One clean up too many
Mar. 2nd, 2011 02:35 pmThe last time I had issues with my Comcast internet, this great technician watched my line for a while and was able to totally see the intermittent failure and make sure the right people got on the fix.
The problem then was that the signal kept getting dropped. I've got that same problem now. The Comcast signal to my modem keeps flickering off and on. The modem is fine. The router is fine. And, if I were doing recreational internetting, I'd never notice.
But, every time it sneezes I lose my RAS connection so I really really really notice and it's driving me nuts!!
Last time this was also accompanied by pretty slow internet speeds. So that when all the other Comcast subscribers got home from work and tried to log on, they couldn't so that helped Comcast understand the urgency of getting it fixed.
This time, there is some degradation of speed but not a whole lot. But I am absolutely losing connection about 4 times an hour.
I just called and had them reboot my modem on their end and check it. Of course, they could see no problem. The guy told me to install Norton's and replace the modem. I said thank you and hung up.
That great technician from last time gave me his name and phone number and told me to call if it happened again. I had that piece of paper around forever and could have sworn I transferred the info someplace before I tossed it but I have no idea where and, of course, now can't find it. I think his work week ended on Wednesdays anyway.
Creappity crap crap crap.
