I got a really ugly and tedious work assignment yesterday afternoon late. I knew that starting work on it then was a very bad idea so when Travis decided that I should Get Out Of This Bed Now at a rather early hour, I figured it was a sign. So I got up and did the deed.

I am such a morning person. Anytime after 10 am this job would have taken me 4-6 hours. This morning, I zipped it out in 3. So by 9, I had done a good half day's work or more. Nice way to start the day.

---

One of the side benefits of quitting the gym is never having to put on those gym shoes again. I hate them. They are big and they require tying and I don't like the way they look. BUT, I can walk for days in them. the only other shoes I have that I can walk more than to the car and back in are my Crocs. I can walk well and long in my Crocs but, while some would say Crocs are NEVER acceptable footware, even I say that there some times when real shoes are better.

So Zappos, whaddya got? Well, turns out, they have these which are perfect. Easy on Easy off. Nice looking. They arrived today. The only problems are they are too short and have no support so they need insoles which would also make them too small.

But, it's Zappos. So, I pop to their website, order up the next larger size (be here Monday) and click return for these. Print out the prepaid UPS label and bang, I'm good. I love Zappos.

---

I'll drop the shoes off at the UPS store on my way back from swimming. Happily the UPS store is right next to a Bartell's drug where I can check out what Dr, Scholl's has to offer and, maybe, get me a couple of spam sliders for lunch at Marination Nation.

---

It sounds like they are cutting down trees outside which makes me soooo sad. Sad because they are clearly NOT cutting down The Tree That I Hate. They are cutting down equally ugly trees across the street for the new development. I want to sneak over there and add my tree to the list on their clipboard.

---

Last year I got a beautiful and oh so soft quilt at Anthropologie. At the end of the winter I had it dry cleaned. It's still beautiful but no longer oh so soft. Now it's kind of lumpy-ish. Not horrible but not amazing like it was. Lesson learned. Sigh. But, still it was wonderful to burrow under it last night.

---

Ok it's now swim time. I'm outta here!!

ugh. my finance guy tells me it's time to refinance. i know he's right but i hate the hassle. at least my current mortgage holder is the one i'm going with so, hopefully, the hassle will be less hassle-y.

I try to steer clear of the Big Banks Suck chorus. But I'm having a difficult time today. Citi Mortgage sent me a letter with a refinance quote and a number to call to take advantage of the deal. I have now been on hold for 18:20 minutes with a now exceedingly annoying bitch coming on every 30 seconds to tell me how important my call is to her, and the rest of the time is filled with amazingly horrible music.
20:17 now...
Guess I'll plug the phone into the charger and move on with my life while I wait.

My current mortgage is a refinance I did about 10 or so years ago. It was with some tiny mortgage company in the midwest who sold my mortgage to someone who sold it to someone else who sold it to Citi Bank. Getting them to separate my property taxes from my mortgage was a painful and expensive operation but outside of that, they've been ok.

Every few months or so, they send me a refinance quote letter - it always comes via UPS overnight which cracks me up. About a year ago, at the encouragement of my finance guy, I called about a quote. I got a snake oil salesman of the first order. He was offensive and annoying and would send me nothing in writing to back up what he was offering. So I said no.

Today I got yet another UPS letter and again, Mr. Finance suggested it was worth looking into. So I called.

This time I got a great guy. I mean really great. He was calm and rational and reasonable and clear and not even close to offensive. He gave me all the nums and explained those I wanted explained. He did not talk down to me or over my head. His offer is excellent. I'm going from a 30 year to a 15 year and it's going to cost me nothing out of pocket and only $100 more a month and save me $50K at the end of 15 years.

The mortgage guy - Kris - will send the appraiser here. It takes 45-60 days total and the closing will be here! In my house. For some reason this just delights me beyond reason. I hate closings with a passion. You always have to go to some giant office building somewhere with no parking and find some obscure, ugly conference room where one or more paper pushers push papers at you and you sign and initial shit until you are blue in the face and don't understand one tiny little thing about any of it.

I'm quite ok with this whole thing.

Ok, so I'm only pissed at their telephone tree. Once I got someone, 29:45 mins in, it was great. This is going to work out fine and not be very hassle-y at all. Nice!

I am nearly out of this green. This might need to be a short sleeved sweater.
