Closing delivered?! wow

susandennisMy current mortgage is a refinance I did about 10 or so years ago. It was with some tiny mortgage company in the midwest who sold my mortgage to someone who sold it to someone else who sold it to Citi Bank. Getting them to separate my property taxes from my mortgage was a painful and expensive operation but outside of that, they've been ok.
Every few months or so, they send me a refinance quote letter - it always comes via UPS overnight which cracks me up. About a year ago, at the encouragement of my finance guy, I called about a quote. I got a snake oil salesman of the first order. He was offensive and annoying and would send me nothing in writing to back up what he was offering. So I said no.
Today I got yet another UPS letter and again, Mr. Finance suggested it was worth looking into. So I called.
This time I got a great guy. I mean really great. He was calm and rational and reasonable and clear and not even close to offensive. He gave me all the nums and explained those I wanted explained. He did not talk down to me or over my head. His offer is excellent. I'm going from a 30 year to a 15 year and it's going to cost me nothing out of pocket and only $100 more a month and save me $50K at the end of 15 years.
The mortgage guy - Kris - will send the appraiser here. It takes 45-60 days total and the closing will be here! In my house. For some reason this just delights me beyond reason. I hate closings with a passion. You always have to go to some giant office building somewhere with no parking and find some obscure, ugly conference room where one or more paper pushers push papers at you and you sign and initial shit until you are blue in the face and don't understand one tiny little thing about any of it.
I'm quite ok with this whole thing.
