Anita is here and the house smells delicious.

Today she is making:

• Farfalle with Crab and Grapefruit and Avocado Salad
• Twice-Baked Potatoes with all the toppings
• Breaded Pan-Fried Chicken Thighs with Mustard Potatoes
• Beef Pot Pie with Mushrooms, Pearl Onions and Port Wine Sauce
• Poulet au Vinaigre with Buttery Artichoke Hearts

I'm going through old LJ entries. I used to store a lot of pictures and graphics on susandennis.org. I changed the domain name in the consolidation of my websites so now all the image links are broken. I did a search and there are more than 200 entries and 600 comments that have the old domain name. I doubt seriously that I will fix them all but I figured I'd see just how odious the task really is. So far it's been a lovely trip down memory lane!

I just came across this early early photo of Betty with my old cat Jake. Jake came with me when I moved up here from California in 1992. This picture was in an LJ entry in 2003 so Betty was like 2 or 3 years old (and Jake would was about 13.)

A quiet week....

Chef Anita has filled my freezer and fridge once again.  Yeah for great meals ahead.  It seems such an extravagance now that I'm not working - even having her only come once a month - but when I sit down to dinner tonight - beef pot pie made just the way *I* like it - crust on top and bottom/no carrots or peas but mushrooms and pearl onions instead - I will know it's worth it.

I finally broke down and sent my doctor a note explaining about my almost cold and asking him what I should do. It's now a semi-runny nose and a wee little bit of a sore throat.  If I had regular lungs I would not worry about it one little bit but since I have 1/2 of regular lungs and have not had a cold since my lungs got so bad, I'm just a nervous nellie crossed with a hypochondriac.  Lovely combo.

I have a post-surgery appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow and that should be the end of the cataract section of my bio!  I'll have to go back one more time - probably in 6 months but that's really just pro-forma, I think.  I am hoping she tells me I can go back to the pool.  But I'm prepared for her to say 2 more weeks. 

Two more baseball games.  One tonight and one tomorrow afternoon.  I might be mildly interested in how the Oakland A's do.  I have always been really fond of their manager, Bob Melvin.  I think he got a very shitty deal here in Seattle and I think he's a very classy guy. I'd love to see him do well in the playoffs and lordknows he's taking those wankers from crap to great this year.  

Plus the very first baseball game I ever went to was an A's game.  Ok, it was a Kansas City Athletics but same team really.  58 years ago.  I remember it well - hot as hell - 12 inning game and the ice cream was delicious.  Oh and the Athletics won.  And it was just me and Mom and Dad.  My brother and sister were too young to go.  At 5 I was deemed grown up enough. Oh yeah baby - the heady power trip of the oldest child.

There isn't a lot going on here this week and that's ok with me.  I am still enjoying the luxury of discretionary time.
