Yes, I voted - two weeks ago. And no, I do not miss having to go to a polling place. I moved to Seattle 20 years ago. I voted a few blocks from here for a couple of years and then two things happened. 1. They moved our polling place to a secret location that I never did find and 2. They offered absentee ballots (vote-by-mail) as a default. I signed right up and never looked back.

I heard two stupid news stories this morning that are, I'm sure, a bellweather of the stupid news stories that will go on all day long into the night

1. Man on the Street interviews (which I always hate anyway - I'm guessing they just toss out those who don't give them quotes to match their story assignments and I assume smart, articulate people (like me hehahahha) never agree to do them) of people who missed polling places - who missed standing in line - who voted so they could get a sticker... arugh...

2. Another Man of the Street interview of young voters for whom procuring a stamp and finding a mailbox was beyond their abilities. "I've never bought stamps. Why can't we vote online? Now I have to go find one of those boxes."

OMG OMG OMG

Long long long day...

And it appears that few if any of our state elections will be decided tonight or even tomorrow.

Chef Anita comes today. Yeah!! Now that she only comes once a month, I appreciate her food more than ever because I have so much of mine to compare it to.

And I'm off to Mill Creek. I have an appointment with my financial adviser to figure out how we are going to support me in my retirement. His office is about 45 minutes from here and right next to Frost Donuts which has the best donuts I have ever had the pleasure to slip between my lips.

I'm looking forward to making some financial decisions but I am really looking forward to that donut!

Janine, I hate to do this to you and to any others who are kind of enough to leave me comments but who would rather do it via 'anonymous', I just turned on captcha. I hate captcha and if it were between me and making a comment, I likely wouldn't leave a comment, but the spam has gotten out of control. I had 14 spam comments this morning.

I'm going to try this for a while. Hopefully, I can turn it off when the latest spamniation runs its course.

I have delicious meals in my freezer. Yeah!!! Anita was here and all is good.

I met with my financial adviser an all is good there, too! We agreed, I'd go ahead and apply for the IBM pension and hold off on the social security until I'm 66. I'm delighted that his plan is exactly like mine. The social security thing means that my options for a full time job remain open if I find one I really like. I wasn't wild that closing that door just yet but if I took the early social security, my earnings potential would have been severely limited.

So all is fine. Even after unemployment stops, I'll have enough income. Very very nice.

I called IBM and told them to send the $$. It's a two step process that will take about 3 months to kick in. So it will start about the time unemployment stops.

Some of it, however, looks like it's going to have to go to the dishwasher repair people... One of my dishwasher drawers is not working properly. It's got about 3 inches of standing water in it that I can't get it to drain. I don't know if I need a plumber or a dishwasher fix it guy. Happily, the dishwasher fixit people are people I've dealt with before. I trust them and they will let me know - email question sent.

The CAPTCHA does not prevent spam comments, apparently. Turned it on and 4 hours later 4 spam comments. ARUGH. I wrote to LJ help. I'm not hopeful.
