Well, I finally got my IP blocking issue fixed.  And then my router died. And none of the routers I have in the house worked. (They are all now in the Goodwill bin.) I spent from 4 to 11 last night fucking with it all.  Everything is now back in place and working well.  I can get to my own website.  I'm very grateful for Office Max - their proximity and their healthy inventory.

And I'm grateful to my brother who always sweetly talks me down off the ceiling even on the way into the restaurant for his birthday dinner.  He's always so calm and unfrazzled while I'm having a stroke.

I really do have crappy Router Karma.  But, hey it could be something critical and expensive and horrible. Instead it's only routers and, as my brother says, for what for me turns out to be about $50 a year, it's cheap for everything the router does to enable me to have all the stuff working I do.

And, at least I was able to get it all done before I went to sleep. Unresolved technology is a guaranteed insomniac for me.  I also got two giant purple blood bruises on my hand.  Lovely.  I'm not wearing gloves in August.  Ugh.

In other news, I noticed this morning that Zoey's hairless patches are getting hair again!!  All of them.  Whew.

My swim is mid-day today.  The pool doesn't open until 11.  Before that I need to put away all the crap that got pulled out during all the network and get the house back in order. And then I have bears to knit and podcasts to catch up on.  Yesterday didn't do much of either!

I bought a new purse this weekend mainly because my small bag was getting too crowded when I wanted to take my tablet with me.  I bought this Baggallini model because it has a carry handle and can be shoulder, cross body or backpack.  I didn't read much of the details beyond the inches.

It arrived today and is the perfect size and has a padded pocket for a tablet!!  I ordered from eBag because they make sending stuff back easy.  They are so not getting this back.  I love it.

Swimming was great today. I shared a lane with my swim buddy, Julie and did 60 laps.  I finished up just as my buddies from the aqua jogging class.  So I hung around to say hi.  They asked me "Are you here for class are just Susan Social?"  hahahah Susan Social.

Now I plan to have a nice, quiet, technology-fail free afternoon.  Me and the bears.

Holy Crap!

It took me 5 days and what seemed like a million tries to get to the correct Comcast people.  I called, I tweeted and G+'d directly to Comcast.  They changed my IP address 3 times over the course of those 5 days - this after having the same IP address for at least a year.  But, all's well that ends well and everything is working and has been working fine now for 24 hours so I declared victory.

Out of nothing but curiosity, tonight I ran a speed test - many actually.  About 3 months ago, they gave me a special deal on their Burst internet upgrade.  I tried it and it moved my speed need from about 18 to 25Mbps (that's download speed) but, honestly, since I'm not working, I really don't need speed consistently and it cost an extra $10 a month so I said no thanks and canceled.  That was about a week before this latest festuche.  I went back down to about 18 or 19 - that's on my laptop over wifi.  And it's fine.

Tonight, I'm consistently - using various tests - getting 38 and 39Mbps download speed!!!!  I don't know if some tech guy did me a giant favor or it's a fluke or my new router spits magic beans or what but wow.  Really.
