This morning's trip to the pool required headlights for the first time.  Nice.

Funny, as an old lady it is my right and desire not to go out after dark but I welcome and love the morning dark!  No clue why.  Except maybe it means cool/cold is coming or is here.  I love the winter dark which is good because here in Seattle we get a whole lot of it.  There are more than a few days where daylight does not arrive until 8ish and night comes about 4:30.  I'm totally cool with that.

The big ticket item today is getting 2 packages to UPS for return.  I could leave them for our UPS guy but he's hit or miss in terms of picking up pre-paid stuff so I think I'll just truck 'em on over to Office Depot.  I need to do it within the hour or after 1:30 as there's a Mariners game this afternoon.  Doubtful it will generate that much traffic but our good pitcher is pitching and it's the last afternoon game of the season so maybe.  No need to take chances.  My schedule is pretty loose :)

I'm having a debate with myself about my cellphone.  I'm not in love with it.  It's just too big.  (Samsung Note 2) I think I want to bite the $$ bullet and get a smaller one.  My contract with Verizon is not even a year old yet so I'm going to pay and pay in order do to it.  Since that's the case, I want to make sure I don't trade in bad for bad.  I can't decide if I want to stay with Verizon or go with probably T-Mobile.  I can't decide what phone I want (MotoX? Nexus 5?) And, so I'm so far just debating.  The good news is that my phone number is Google Voice so that won't need to change no matter that I do.

Now I think I'll do my Office Depot thing and get that behind me.

So I have a plan...  I've ordered a Nexus 4 from Google. I can return it in 15 days.  My plan is to hook it up to T-Mobile which I can cancel.  I figure if I bail on the whole thing, I'm out maybe $60 but probably not that much.  And, at least I'll know for sure whether my options are good ones.  It's not the phone I want BUT I don't think the phone I want is being made yet.  So this will buy me some time with a phone and a plan I can live with until they make what I want.

And if I do decide to keep it, I can Gazelle my Note II (before the Note 3 is announced) and recoup my contract early termination fee.

So that's my plan.  The only wrinkle is that the T-Mobile website is not letting me buy a sim with my Discover card.  I can call or, if I have to, actually go to a T-Mobile store.

If I keep my phone til the end of my contract with Verizon, I will have paid $1,200 total.

If I sell my phone to Gazelle, pay Verizon's early termination fee, buy the new one from Google, pay as I go with T-Mobile (prepaid), for the same length of time, I will pay (generously estimating taxes, and misc charges that may happen) $1,130.

I'm ok with these nums.  And if T-Mobile service doesn't measure up or I cannot stand the phone, I can back right out as long as I do it before about September 14thish*.  And I'll be smarter.

*I have 15 days to return the phone to Google and 15 days to return the SIM to T-Mobile and my Gazelle quote is good for 30 days.

-----------

The Mariners have stopped just losing, now they are going down in flames - they've lost the past 6 games and NONE were close games.

The weather peops are promising rain tomorrow.  I'm so looking forward to that.
