Chef Anita is here and there will be good eating again starting tonight!

The neighborhood seems to have survived the Seahawks game last night. I haven't been outside yet to check but from what I can see from my terrace, it looks like they tidied up fairly well.  The fans usually do their damage on the west side of my condo building which I can't see from my unit so no telling...

My plans today include swimming at 11.  I need to drop the bears off on the way.

I'm thinking about a hair cut.  My hair has pretty much quit growing but there are bits of it that stick out oddly.  Not oddly like 'oh what cutting edge cool!' but more like 'oh, dear, her attendant must have lost her hair brush.'  So I'm thinking maybe I'll see if someone can just trim off the sticky-outy bits and make the rest look more intentional.

Probably I'll do that tomorrow and also get in my Costco trip.  I have a prescription to pick up and a few other things on my list.

It's cold enough to snow here but dry as a bone.  Sigh.  Of course, if we got the snow I wanted, I couldn't get to the pool so maybe I'd just better nip the snow wishes in the bud.

I was looking for a cable last night and discovered the packages from the insurance - Medicade Advantage programs that I need to review. I think I'll give that a start today - nice occupier while Anita's got the kitchen busy.

I got to the pool this morning - all suited up and showered (I like to soak my hair really well before it hits the chlorine - it keeps the chlorine stink out.) and I was standing at the edge of the pool waiting for the lifeguards to say it was OK to go in.  Chuck (not one of my favorites) was in the pool lining up the lane markers when he got out and looked at me and said "pool's contaminated and closed for at least an hour".

Turns out he'd found poop in the pool.  Nice.  My friend, Cathy was in the locker room getting changed so I went in and told her NOT to pre-shower.  Then I went out to the receptionist to see if I could get more info.  At that point they were saying it would be at least 24 hours or 28 before they could open again.  I looked at the schedule.  There were a few city pools that open for lap swimming at noon so I decided to head over to one in West Seattle.  I got there at 11:30 and then had to kill a half hour.

But, I finally got in the water at noon.  They keep the West Seattle pool several degrees warmer than mine and it's enough to kind of be annoying but that was really the only issue.  There was no lane competition and I had a really wonder swim.

I just called my pool to see how things were going and got Chuck.  He said the pool was closed for today but would be open for early morning swim tomorrow. Yeah!  I've had enough of pool closings!

By the time I got home, Anita was done.

  • Pork Chops with Pear-Ginger Chutney and Roasted Smashed Potatoes

  • Meatloaf Patties and potato gratin

  • Sloppy Joes

  • Asian Style Pork Meatballs over Rice with Korean Slaw

  • Sour Cream Noodle Bake

I've not had the pork chops yet but the rest of the list is comprised of some of my very favorite things that Anita cooks.  Yum.  Good eatin'

She won't be back until February because I'll be in Las Vegas for a week.
