The last half of yesterday was bad. First world bad but bad. It got hotter and humider in here and I was trying to figure out two different computer problems - one of which was a total fail. And I got sleepy again and took a nap. I woke up with an extreme case of cranky. While I was asleep Walgreens called and left a message that they had to have my permission to refill a prescription - calling them back was a royal pain in the ass - especially since I was pissed off already. My Amazon package guaranteed to arrive yesterday will be here on Tuesday - 6 day Prime shipping - UGH.  The Mariners played their very best pitcher (one of the best pitchers in baseball today) and he played one of the worst games of his career. And then instead of my going to sleep instantly, it took me about an hour.

I am very done with yesterday.

Today is a new day and it will be better OR ELSE.

The egg muffins I made yesterday are the best ever. I lined the muffin tins with a piece of bacon. I buy cooked bacon from Costco. I used that. Just out of the freezer.  The result is really eggy and a little bacony and ... a perfect little breakfast. Yeah!!  I punted with the amounts but here's kind of what I did:

11 eggs (one was cracked or I would have used 12)
1/4th cup of half and half
1/2 cup of Bisquick
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 t+ cayenne

Liberally spray muffin tin with butter Pam. Line each opening with a strip of bacon and fill with mixture. 40 minutes at 3:50. Let cool for a half hour. Makes 12.  I keep them in the fridge (I freeze half) and pull out one on the morning and nuke it for about 45 seconds. Perfect.

Today is the last day of 8:30 Saturday swim. Next Saturday, they will be moving it to 9. Not my choice but could be worse. The next closest pool has lap swimming at 8 so, if I need earlier on Saturdays, I could whip down there for my swim.

I did find out last week, chatting up the lifeguards, that in the next few months, the City will be doing work on the water systems and, particularly, the main pipe in the middle of the road in front. Access to the pool will be a mess for a while and they will actually have to close the pool for a bit - maybe a short bit. The engineers who dropped into the pool to check on stuff said it would be January-ish.  The pool manager who has been through this before said that they will be lucky to get notice a day or two ahead. I'm glad that I hear this news so that if/when it happens it won't be a shock.

After swim today, I will be hustling my fanny home. In addition to regular traffic issues and road work in various places around here, there is a whole lotta shit going on in town that is causing issues and... there is a soccer game across the street at 1 and a baseball game down the block at 6.  I will be getting the car in its spot and leaving it there.

Way better

My swim was great. I remembered to do some sprints which were hard but it sure improved my time on the mile. So I did some extra laps of breast stroke and butterfly and backstroke... none of which I really enjoy a lot. I think I need to get over that.

I made a stop at Trader Joes and with it a great discovery. I have often seen their beef with broccoli, but it always looked like too much broccoli. I like broccoli but only in VERY small amounts. Today, I stopped and read the instructions and, turns out, the broccoli is in a separate bag!!! I can put in as little as I want. Score!

Then home where I had lunch, cleaned up the kitchen, refilled by shower bottles for the pool shower, recharged my ipod and replaced some podcasts on it, tidied up some other stuff and then sat down at the computer.  In about 10 minutes I solved both of the computer issues that plagued me so badly yesterday.

I also figured out how to easily see a list of all my electricity payments back to 2008.  And, yep, this has been the cheapest Summer since 2010. The weather peops are saying it's been the hottest. But, I think they may mean average. I know we've had Summer with hotter temperatures and for many more days in a row.  But, I think the combo of my LED lights and my way more efficient air conditioner have contributed to this Summer's savings. Nice.

I have listened to my book for a bit and now I think it's time for some TV.  The Sounders fans are all nicely and quietly tucked into their game. I can open the door now and still hear the TV. It's lovely and cool outside with a little drizzle.
