After a few nights of very crappy sleep, I've now had two nights of very good sleep. And the difference is the air conditioner. It is beyond summer here and really ridiculous to think that it is too hot to sleep. Also ridiculous to be wasting the energy to drive the damn air conditioner in September. But, I so love the good sleep.  Tomorrow is predicted to be in the 80s. Then we have two days with highs in the 70s and then the rest of the extended forecast moves the highs down to my sweet spot - the 60s.  So. I think I'll just slap around with my gigantic carbon footprint until mother nature gets her shit together.

The pool opens at 9 and I'll be on the edge of it then ready to pop in as soon as the lifeguard says 'ok!'.  I considered several different post swim activities - mainly brunch and shopping but I don't really want to be out in the hot and I have tons of food here and I just spent $5K yesterday so I don't really need to spend more today and my TiVo has new stuff on it and so...  I think I'll just come home and entertain myself here.  Plus the baseball game is at 4.

I moved Zoey's big scratching post from the living room to the hallway and she thinks it's brand new and feels compelled to give it a go every time she passes it. So the sound in this house is the tinkle of cat bells, scratch scratch, tinkle of cat bells. It's a house symphony with a rather nice rhythm.

Time to swim.

I left the pool after my swim and tried to think of someplace to go/somethign to do and came up blank so headed home. About half way there, I got a text "Feel like having a raod trip today?" It was from [livejournal.com profile] ljtourist. And we had just the best spontaneous, unplanned, all around fun road trip ever.

We hadn't seen each other since June and he just got back from a big trip so we had lots to chat about.  And he has a great, fun car to ride in.  So first we headed north to the first place that was reported to have F'real milkshake machines. Frank found out about these enons ago and we've been talking about tracking one down for a long time.  Delish and well worth tracking down.

Then we went to Frost Donuts - not far from the F'real place.  Frost makes destination donuts and they have a new location. They took over the yarn shop in Mill Creek. We had donuts. And while there somehow got to talking about Sonic Drive-in.  That's how we ended up in Ferndale.  Coming home we stopped at the closest legal marijuana shop that sells eatibles.  I hadn't been in one of the new legal shops. Really a far cry from the stoner dude selling out of his trunk in the dark part of the parking lot.  We made another stop at Central Market for goodies and then home.

The day was blue sky clear and the road was through some amazing forest areas with the most beautiful trees. Frank put the top down for lots of the trip and it was just amazing. And even included snow capped mountains. Just a great day!

I'm not even letting the Mariners loss kill it. They could still pull it out of the bag but probably won't.

As I type this, the afternoon sun is burning a third eye onto my forehead.  In 2-3 weeks, I'll be able to push a button and make that go away. Yeah!

I asked Frank if we could put the top down for our road trip and it was so wonderful. Wind in hair, unobstructed view... it was just cool.

After several hours, he did say he'd had enough sun and put the lid on.  Smart man.

My forehead is totally sunburned. I couldn't figure out what it was at first. It itched, I scratch and OWIE!!  It's been about a million years since I was sunburned.

And I think while that wind in hair thing was awesome, outdoor whatever-was-in-the-air into my lungs not so much.  Cough, gasp, cough, gasp..  And now we know why smoking pot is surely not an option with these lungs. Hell breathing outside air turns out to be not that good.

Between the rescue inhaler and my magic cough stopping pills, I think I've got it under control but wild.

Most of the time, since I don't exert myself often, and can rely on shallow breathing, I'm really ok with having half lungs and then I get a little reminder...  Could be worse. Way worse so I'm really not complaining honest.  AND for reasons that totally escape me, I can swim without issue, so paying the price for a very fun day - FINE by me!
