Today started out with a very good swim. No problem people. No crowds. Two of my favorite lifeguards.
But, the trip there and home was weird. It's only a couple of miles but I kept almost hitting things/people and almost getting hit by cars and a bus. I was glad to get home safely.
Today is pretty free of anything that has to happen. My big plans are calling Comcast.
I'm getting more and more interested in speed and unlimited data and the possibility of getting a static IP. I do not hate Comcast. I just want stuff they don't offer. I would like to keep the TV side but am very fortunate to have a choice now for cable TV as well as internet. What I want to do today is call and see what my bill will be without internet. I'm expecting the call to be difficult and I am prepared to be calm and nice and openminded and hope I get the same.
My phone and tablet are slated to be a big operating system updates any minute now. I keep hitting the 'check now' button which is silly because the minute the upgrade gets near here Twitter and Google+ will light up with entries and I'll know it's time. But, still I check every 15 mintues or so.
Otherwise, it promises to be a fine, event-free, day.

Nov. 14th, 2014 10:33 amThe Comcast ordeal turned out to be not so bad after all. I went to their web site and got my bill for reference and then looked up the correct number and noted that they have chat available for billing issues/questions!
So, I chatted. This was far less painful than a phone call AND I now have a transcript. Win and win. I got the numbers - Bill without internet. Bill without internet and premium channels. I can carve that sucker down to half! But, saving $$ isn't really the goal here. I'm on the fence about the premiums.
Anway I have the info I wanted. I will now be able to better analyze my options.

This morning she kept trying to turn it on herself. She should be taking her cat nap but is wandering around meowing.

Sans juice
Nov. 14th, 2014 01:05 pmAt 11:15 am my electricity died. It actually blinked a couple of times and then died.
The first thing was I noticed that I had neglected to plug the display on the Windows machine into the UPS. I'm pretty sure I have it set up to power down nicely on its own but, just in case, I plugged a display in and got enough power to power it down myself.
And then I assessed the tech situation. Everything was very nearly 100% charged. Whew. I discovered that there was an Xfinity Wifi. I connected and learned I had fairly decent 'free' wifi. Cool! For 15 minutes and then it died.
I checked the Seattle City Light's website. At least my outage was on the outage map. At that time, the cause was unknown and the ETA up time was 3 pm. It's clearly not weather related so I figured some one dug wrong.
Now it's 1 pm. The map says the ETA is 1:55 pm (which is a weird time - why not 2??) and that the cause is basically dug wrong.
My shades were down and it took me a while to realize that the remote didn't need wifi. I found it and raised the blinds so at least I had light. Mainly it's cold and ohhhhh so quiet. And, of course, I'm stuck here. It might be a good time to go out and run some errands but... if I got back and we still had no juice, I couldn't get back up here. I can no longer climb the stairs. I could get to the 2nd floor but that would be really it. But, I didn't need or want to go anywhere anyway. AND I am so glad I was here when it happened!
I am nearly caught up on The Serial.
And... as I type this... the juice is back!! Cool. Yahooo!
