My oven is scheduled to be delivered between 9:30 and 11. I just got an email from the electrician that he will be meeting the city inspector here at 10. I think the stove will get here close to 9:30. Should be an interesting morning.

Swimming this morning was pretty packed with Januarys. Plus, Wednesdays always draw bigger crowds so it was, at times, swimming in traffic. But, I got my mile in without a lot of trouble. One of my favorite regulars was back after having her baby in November. It was fun to see her.

I gave up on the complicated knitting project. Life's too short. And there are plenty of other things to knit and crochet that don't cause me to pull my hair out in frustration.

Stinky!!

So, the electrician actually did show up and very near 10 am and with the inspector. All checked out and I have a signed off paper. Whew and YEAH!!

And while they were inspecting, the very nicest stove installation man showed up. He moved the old, filthy stove out and gave me enough time to clean out the stove hole. And then he wheeled the new stove in. He spent a long time getting it leveled all around and getting it all settled in. Then he turned the oven on to bake and said to leave it for 20 minutes and then turn it off and turn it on to broil. He said it would kind of smell at first. He was not lying. It stinks!

But, it's sooooo pretty. I can't decide what to cook for dinner.

Whew.

The house still stinks a little. The manual says to open a window. I got no window. My sliding glass door to the outside was open for a bit but it got too cold. So we still have stink.

I thought a baked potato would be the best for my first convection oven test. I picked a small one and read and followed the directions. At the appointed time it was still under done so I put it back in for 10 as directed. Still not done enough so I cut/mashed it as best I could and it and the plate back into the oven.

Finally it got done. I buttered it up and then went to move the plate totally forgetting it had just come out of a 400 degree oven. OOOOOUUUUUCCCCHHHH! I only burned two fingertips but ugh.

Dinner was ok but hard to cut my meat with burnt fingers.

I dropped stuff in the oven which I will clean out as soon as it cools which will still be a while. The whole kitchen is a mess.

BUT... even so... I love my new stove. It's pretty. The oven is blue in side! Tomorrow, eggs and sausage on the griddle. Hopefully the stink will be gone. Stay tuned.

In the early 90's there was a great TV channel called ZDTV and they had lots of tech tv shows and my favorite was The Screensavers. I videotaped it every day and would watch it the minute I got home from work. There were maybe a dozen regulars on that show and would have been the stalker of each of them had I been in San Francisco. The main host of the show was Leo Laporte.

ZDTV was turned into TechTV and The Screensavers and most of the regulars survived. And I watched every day.

Then TechTV got bought by Comcast and turned into G4 and fairly quickly turned The Screensavers and the rest of the good content to crap. The regulars scattered. One of them, Megan Marrone, ended up working for my boss - we were both vendors at Microsoft and our boss worked our contracts and paid us. She lived in California but I did allow myself one OMGI'MSUCHAFAN email and got a gracious reply.

Leo Laporte had a radio show on Saturdays and then started doing video podcasts and I followed. And he grew until he had a little network which has now grown to a fairly good sized network of a bunch of shows and people called TWIT. They stream online and via a bunch of programs and applications.

I watch a number of their shows regularly - especially tech news. Today they announced some staff changes and a new member added to the team to host the afternoon tech news show... Megan Marrone!!

I'm ridiculously jazzed about this. She starts Monday. I can't wait. (Plus she's replacing one of my non-favorites so double yeah!)
