For the past couple of years I have built my days pretty much around the pool schedule. Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays, I swim at 6:30 am and so have the rest of the day free. Tuesdays/Thursdays, the pool doesn't open until 11 so my day is broken up in the middle. Saturdays, I swim at 8:30 at a different pool. And Sundays I don't swim because no pool opens before noon and they are all full of lane divas and screaming kids.

Now... I think a lot of that is about to change. They are starting an 8 month long road project that will make my regular pool hard to get to in the middle of the day. (And, honestly, it's gotten way too crowded on Tuesdays and Thursdays anyway.)

But, mainly, I think I'm going exploit this new pool big time. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I can almost swim when I want! And, Sundays. I could start swimming on Sundays!

I need to be mindful of traffic there's a long, easily clogged bridge between here and there but as long as I'm not coming home during morning rush hour or trying to get to the pool during evening rush hour I should be fine. And Sundays I need to be mindful of the Mariner/Seahawks traffic but that's very doable.

And it starts today. I'm trying now to decide if I want breakfast before I head out. I will also be making a Safeway stop after and maybe even Trader Joe's. Last night was the first night that I really second guessed my decision to let Chef Anita go. My dinner sucked. And it was because I was lazy and didn't plan.

I need to come up with a meal plan that is not wasteful, that is interesting and that doesn't involve work on my part. It's going to be some cooking, some takeout, some sit down and some other but I definitely need a plan. I do not want to eat crap. I not need to eat crap. And I do not want a house/fridge full of food with no plan.

So that's today's plan. Plan a plan.

But, now it's time to suit up and inaugurate my new pool!

Ok, so the new pool is such a keeper. It took me less than 15 mins from the time I left my bedroom until I was stripping off my clothes in the locker room. Walking from the car to the locker room is not insignificant. Not difficult, no hills or anything, just a hike - maybe I can get my 20 minutes of walking in with just the commute!

There was a guy doing laps when I got there and another guy just getting in. Lap guy left right away and the other guy turned out to be a walker. He walked for an hour and then sat in the hot tub for about 15. After about 20 minutes of laps, a young woman swimmer took up in the next lane and lasted until I was almost done. So... not at all crowded.

The water temperature is perfect. The conditioner - bromaide? - feels nice on my skin and doesn't bother my eyes or nose or mouth. There are giant windows to the outside on one side but there is a huge overhang so no direct sun. Yeah! The other side is giant windows into the gym. It's a lovely open feel. I swam my mile. It took me longer than normal but I figured I was just slow because distracted by the new.

On the way out, however, I asked... turns out it is not a 25 yard pool like I am used to... it's 25 meters! Ha! I got tricked into doing more than a mile. Which is excellent.

The locker room is big and lovely and showers are fabulous. It's just a lovely lovely place. And... free for me. Amazing.

Then I went on to Safeway where I discovered they have a Papa Murphy's in the same shopping center! Score.

So lovely lovely morning. I am home and it is only just now about the time I'd be getting out of my regular pool. So score extra time in my day, too.
