It's supposed to cool off today. And, outside it appears to be getting a nice head start. I turned off the air conditioner in hope.
The Mariner game is at noon today but not here which means there won't be a traffic problem coming back from the pool and I'll have entertainment all afternoon AND we get to skip the really annoying announcer who butts in on Tuesday night home games. A win all around.
I looked up the West Seattle LA Fitness on Yelp and it's getting not great reviews. It is a good bit smaller than the one in Ballard BUT mainly the staff is seriously not engaged. The staff in Ballard is amazingly fabulous. The staff at West Seattle is barely interested if at all. Interesting. On the up side, short term, I'm hoping this translates to never crowded pool!
I've got two interesting books going at the moment. My audio book is Joseph Finder's The Fixer. And so far, it's pretty engaging. On the Kindle, I'm reading The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by Kate Andersen Brower. It's really a good read.
I got my first (of 3) t-shirt banners done and magnetized and up yesterday. It looks great. The other two are pinned and ready to sew. The sewing room got too hot yesterday but maybe it will be cooler this afternoon.
Right now, it's time for a swim.

It's the arms!
Jun. 16th, 2015 11:23 amI swam for 65 minutes and except for 2 mins when I first got there and 3 mins at the end, I had the pool to myself. Very freeing in terms of experimenting and figuring out stuff.
Breathing on the other side is still a great struggle, two laps and I have to stop and breathe so there are issues but... I think they may well be in my arms more than my neck. My former form uses my arms in ways that changing my breathing won't allow. It's an arm straightening thing. When I straighten them both out, I face the bottom of the pool so it really doesn't matter which side I breathe on. This could be excellent.
Towards the end, a whole lap of breathing on the left was still pretty hard but alternating sides every 3rd stroke was miraculously easier.
So... I think progress. Yeah!! And, a clear realization that my old form is just coasting downhill - it's not even really a workout! Compared to what I did for most of today's swim, I've been close to napping while floating... hmmmmm
I have a lovely salad for lunch. I earned it!
