Late start
Mar. 9th, 2016 07:02 amThis morning, I'm not up and out the door but actually killing time first. I have a nail appointment at 10 and the nail place is a couple of blocks from the pool. So I want to time my swim so that there's not a huge time gap between pool and nails. I'm planning on leaving here in about an hour. Depending on my timing, I think I'll do a quick grocery run either before or after nails.
And then, there will be a stop at the fabric shop for new face fabric. I'm coming around to all kinds of face colors and not just different shades of tan and brown. I think I have some boy dolls figured out, too, but I already have the goods for those. I'm quite jazzed about all the new dolls.
Plus today is the first day of real baseball on TV. There have been a couple of MLB.TV tv games but while they are better than nothing, the broadcasters aren't that good and the video isn't either. Today will be the kind of broadcast that we get during the regular season with my regular broadcasting guys. I'm very ready.
Full day!

Mar. 9th, 2016 12:58 pmThat damn lane line is still not fixed at the pool. But, it didn't matter much today. Because I was so much later than usual, I saw all kinds of people I haven't seen in ages. It was fun.
Nails done. They really needed it. They were getting all snaggy and messy looking. No more!
Then on to the fabric shop totally forgetting that on Tuesdays and Thursdays they have a 10% discount for old peops. Not Wednesday. Oh well. Turns out that careful selection kept my total under $30 so no big damage.
How's this for some diversity in skin color??!!
I really do appreciate the ideas and suggestions left in comments. I would have never considered purple or a face but now I'm really into it!
One funny thought I had during my swim/thinking hour. I was wallowing in Jeannie's note and all of the suggestions and ideas and I realized where/when I had had the good feelings that were the result. It was while I was still working - in performance evaluations. I loved those meetings. I loved hearing about how management thought I was doing and getting a charge/challenge for the future. Retirement brought a vacuum that it took me a long long time to get used to because it had no such measurement/projections.
What fun to get them back.

Well, we've got some good news and...

The bad news is that I broke my sewing machine. It sews but it screams when it does. Not a good sound at all.
A bit of research turned up a fix it place that's not particularly handy but not horrible. So I called and got the NICEST sounding guy in the world. He even tried to help me troubleshoot over the phone without my asking. So tomorrow morning I'll take it in to see him.
The place is in Ballard which is a little rough to get to from here first thing in the morning so I'll go swim, come home, get the machine and go. Could be worse. It's a blip. I asked and if he has to keep it for repair, he has one I can rent. So whew.
And the Mariners won.
