I'm home from the pool and now waiting for the oven. It's early yet but still. I have high hopes but I've painted them with some realistic skeptic paint so I'm ready for anything.

I wore my new suit today and it swam good. The cheap elastic made zero difference. If it doesn't last, it doesn't last but I'll bet it does. I also think I've settled on some excellent goggles. They are called Pulabecs and while they have a bit of a distorted view, they do not fog or leak and I can easily read the tiny nums on the Misfit app on my watch so they are keepers.

My keep the kitchen clean campaign is going well. I got a smaller dish drainer which has helped me stop stockpiling dirty dishes. If all the dishes are clean then the rest of the kitchen somehow doesn't get messed up. Since you can see nearly all of my kitchen from the living room, it makes the living room more tidy and nicer. Win win. Some lessons need 67 years to learn and perfect.

9:03 - Ricky and Orlando are here with my oven!! They are polite and respectful and really nice. And working hard.

Ricky stripped a screw hole and the oven install died. But, it's all ok.

They were having trouble so I backed away to let them noodle in private and pretty soon they were backing the oven out of the wall and then said they had to go back to the truck for a minute.

When they came back, they carefully and politely explained how and why they had made the mistake. In the truck they had already, working with Jeremy, found a new oven and secured the first place in the delivery/installation schedule for tomorrow. They made sure, really sure, that I was ok with this and that they would change it to another day/time if I wanted. They could not have been nicer or more conciliatory. I felt so bad for them, I had no room to be pissed or even mildly annoyed. They re-installed the old oven for me.

And so the saga continues. I've already swapped notes with Jeremy who is now invoking Murphy and his law. This is getting pretty amusing. But, I'm totally stress-less about it now.

It's still very very cool here. We broke records for cool this morning. This translates to very comfortable conditions in the sewing room. I think I'll head on back there now. I need to make some more doll faces. And some more dolls.

And then I made more faces. I have a cardboard template I use to cut out the fabric and then I mark the eyes and mouth with a marker that is temporary. Then I sew the eyes on. That's where this group is now.

During the ballgame tonight, I'll clip all those strings and draw the mouths on with my trusty Sharpie and then they will be all ready for the next dolls.

The oven installation lady called to confirm this afternoon and noted that the actual window is 8-9:30. So glad she mentioned that. This morning I was home by 8:15 but that was a fluke of no traffic. I can't count on that.

The best way to ensure I get home by 8 is to leave for the pool at 5:45 and get up at 5:30 which is totally doable. Alternatively, I can wait until they are done and then go swim. But, that kind of chews up the day. I hate that. But, heck, what's the harm?

I've set and unset the alarm on my phone a half dozen times today. Right now we're at Get Up Early.

My brother hired a new tech today. Well actually a pre-tech and it's a tech of the female persuasion! She's really young and seems very fun and cool and excited. My brother is very excited to get her as are the other two techs. Finding good new people for such a small shop - someone who will contribute and fit in and work for small business salary - ain't easy. I'm delighted for all of them.

Here's the first couch of June.

And the latest bear.
