I use a Pixel Chromebook for my everyday internetting. I love it. The screen is brilliant, the keyboard and trackpad are excellent. It's zippy and peppy. It has excellent battery life (but mostly I keep it plugged in). A few weeks ago, it got into a fight with BECU and BECU just said 'ok, no access to my site'. Then yesterday it got into a fight with Netflix. Enough.

Last night I decided to powerwash it - this is chromebook speak for return to factory settings. In the chromebook's case, it's an operation that takes about 90 seconds from beginning to end - including re-set up. I need to remember to do it more often. I'm all internet perky this morning!

And... my new phone has shipped! I meant to pay for expedited shipping and forgot so it won't be here til Wednesday. But, honestly, the anticipation has it's own delights so I'm cool. At least I know it's coming. My current phone was updated last night and now hitting the power button twice starts the camera which is WONDERFULLY handy.

Someone is moving out of this building today. I have no intention of ever moving again but if I did, I would hire these guys. They are hauling ass like theirs is on fire. I noticed it when I came in from the pool but now I'm watching them on Front Door TV Network and I mean they are not wasting one second. Kind of fun to watch the hustle.

I was the only one in the pool for my entire swim today. No one was even in the spa. It was kind of weird. But nice.

I just saw the news that Microsoft stock is now back to what it was in 1999. I left Microsoft in 1999. It took them a long time to get over that, I guess. Glad to know they are moving forward.

Nothing big on the agenda. Pretty caught up on everything that needs my attention. I've even already voted. So today I will do whatever happens. I just killed 45 minutes on modcloth.com. I have $60 in credit but I couldn't find anything that really hit me.

So the internet went down today but not really. According to Twitter, lots of websites were down and service was interrupted for many many folks but not here. Whew. It was a Denial of Service attack on a huge scale. I just got lucky.

Way way way back in the ice age of me and the internet - 1995 - I just found the article - my ISP got attacked the same way.  It took a couple of weeks, I think, to get back up on its feet.

Here it was biz as usual. Sewing and stuff. I did finally tackle that drawer of trim that was such a mess...

Better now...

And my dolls from today...

This journal is to record my life for the recording not for the audience, but every once in a while, I write to an audience. This is such an entry.

I'd like your help.

[livejournal.com profile] brendamom left a comment that she thought my posing my finances* was displaying too much information. And I'm curious about this. Sincerely.

I totally get that most people think of privacy as keeping everything about themselves as a giant secret. I'm not one of those people. I actually never have been. But, I am thoughtful about it. I do think about it. What is the risk? What is the harm?

If I post my address, what's the danger? I live on the 4th floor of a secured building. Yes, someone could sneak in the building's front door and somehow pick my unit out of the other 20 on this floor and pick the lock and get me, but I'm totally willing to risk that. Also, someone could scale the outside of the building and break in from my terrace. Again, I'm ok with those chances.

If I post my telephone number, people could call me. My telephone number - the same number I use today - for years was listed in the Seattle phone books. And, if anyone still has one of those, it probably still is in there - listed under my full name - Susan Dennis. Yep, I might get a prank call. Since I don't answer the phone unless I know who it is, that's not a problem for me.

If I post my income and what I spend my money on, what's the harm? What's the danger? What's the worst? I can't come up with anything myself. But, I'll bet someone reading this might have a list. Do you? Will you share? Please?

*I have posted my income and my spending this month in entries that I made 'friends only'. I'm seriously considering making them public. Frankly, the responses to this entry will likely dictate if/when I do.
