I have had a $76.60 discrepancy in the Capital One Visa account for a week. When you tally up all the charges and credits since the last statement, you get an amount that is $76.60 less than what they say I owe. This is bugging the shit out of me. And, yet, not enough to call them about it yet. The answer will either be in my statement OR the evidence will be clear enough to make a phone call practical.

My computer is due to arrive tomorrow. The UPS tracking site says that it is due to arrive tomorrow, Wednesday, the 20th BUT just to the left of that, it says 2 business days from now. Wednesday, the 20th, is one business day from now. Which leads me to believe that my delivery will be borked. So I'm steeling myself for a probably snafu. But, again, no real recourse this time of year until we get way past either tomorrow or Thursday and then, what are they going to do except blame it on the holidays.

On the up side, neither of these things are at all critical and don't matter one bit to anyone but me so my best bet is to not let either of them ruin my day. Can do. I think.

Twitter just pointed out yet another wreck on the bridge. Had the pool heater not been broken, in a week I was counting on for no traffic, I would have spent a lot of time bumper to bumper. So... yeah?

I'm playing today's swim by ear. If I go, it will be to the pool that opens at noon. I'm going to decide sometime after 11. I did research last night and figured out that the Ballard LA Fitness (way better hours) is totally doable Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Cat luck. I have had, over the years, a wide variety of cats. A lot of cats throw up fairly frequently and very loudly. Zoey is a major exception. In the 7 years she's lived here, I'll bet she's thrown up no more than once a year if that. And zero retching. Hardly a sound at all. This morning she scarfed down her breakfast too fast and silently threw it up onto a very easy to clean up table and not near anything else. She is one considerate cat, that's for sure.

All cleaned up now and I think I'll head back to the sewing room. What in the world would I do without new dolls to make?!

I just had a late lunch... french fries - rather, pomme frites (from the air fryer) with a little bowl of hollandaise (warmed in the microwave) for dipping. It was delicious and decadent.

I made a couple of dolls this morning and then cut out the bits for some more and realized I was perilously low on faces. So I stopped and started on a batch of faces. The last big batch I made was before the machine died. Wow. Making the faces involves sewing down the felt eyes. I use one particular stitch that last time wrinkled up the face and was a huge struggle. Today it was easy, peasy no wrinkling. Nice.

I got to a stopping place and it was noon o'clock. Eat lunch or go swim? If swim, where? Google said it was 22 minutes in traffic to the LA Fitness in Ballard. And 23 minutes with lots of traffic bottlenecks to the really nice city pool. Without a lot of conviction, I just put on my suit and headed to the pool in the city center and it was fine. I got there after they had been open for nearly an hour and the first rush of swimmers had come and gone.

But, still, I hate swimming in the middle of the day.

My neighbor brought me bay rum apple tarts. And they are delicious!

The computer getting here tomorrow is looking better. The tracking number has now corrected itself with a new count, a new date, and it shows the box is now in Oregon. I'm hopeful.

Now I've got faces to finish.

My gym membership is paid for by my Medicare Advantage Plan with a program called Silver and Fit. But my Plan no longer covers my doctor so I am saying buh bye to my Plan and switching to a new Plan which also pays for my gym membership with a program called Silver Sneakers. The problem is that the switch happens at midnight on December 31.

The gym isn't open on January 1 but, in my head, I've been worrying about what would happen on January 2. So every week or so, I go to the Silver Sneakers web page and fill in their 'am I eligible' form and they say NO!

I had the scenario of calling them January 2 and begging them for an email (instead of waiting for a membership card to come in the mail) verifying I was a member so I could get into the gym.

But, tonight I tried their web page and I'M IN!!! I got my account set up and found out they don't even mail out cards any more, it's print your own. Nice. So I am set. For the gym. If they ever get the fucking heater fixed.

Tonight they said 'hopefully by the end of the week'. I'm translating to 'hopefully by the time my Silver & Fit membership expires. Sigh.

I did read in the neighborhood blog that a BMW was stolen yesterday from the gym's parking garage and another car was broken into there this morning. That gym has some pretty ugly karma.

Apparently the new rule is no doll/bear shots after dinner as that is Zoey Time in the 'studio'. It looks like she's giving this guy the stink eye!
