Yesterday we had a show/sleet/thunderstorm in the afternoon that never showed up on any of my (way too many) weather apps. When I went to bed last night, those apps and the TV were telling me the snow would start at 1 am and continue through the morning commute today. So when I got up at 5, I went out to the living room to look. Dry as a bone. Nary a drip of anything so far and now the sun is so strong, I've had to lower the blinds.

I did discover a fun Happy Birthday display just across the way during yesterday's storm.

I have a long list of small things that I want to get done today. Including spending some time going over the Sew Expo stuff so that I will be all prepared when I get there Thursday. My brother has a new service that will enable me to kick Drop Box to the curb. He's got it going so I want to get all my stuff transferred over. And I have a new library audio book to download and I want to gather up all my external batteries and get them all charging for Sunday's power outage and a bunch more very exciting stuff like that.

I'd better get started or I won't get it all done plus dolls sewn.

I was working at a start up across the street. As I made my 1/2 block commute early that morning, I saw several plate glass windows broken and not even boarded up yet. The annual Mardi Gras celebration in my neighbourhood had broken into riots and one guy had been killed. It was really horrible. (And the last Mardi Gras celebration here.)

It was otherwise, a regular day until 10:54. I was on the top floor of a 100 year old building that started rocking and rolling big time.

Earthquake registering 6.8 on Richter Scale jolts Seattle and Puget Sound on February 28, 2001.

My webpage from that day with some photos is still up. One of the photos on this page is a far away view of the photo above (which I just found on a city data site).

Most people had no damage at all. There was one fluff head at work who did have to replace her bathroom floor because the quake knocked a basket of died fake flower potpouri off the back of the toilet AND water splashed out and soaked it all. By the time she got home, her bathroom floor was stained irreparably. She pissed and moaned and whined about that eveyr day for a month.

There's a small dent in my kitchen sink and a crack in the bathroom floor tile that remind me of that day but I think I'd probably remember even without them.

Well, the other condo on this hall - the whacko's unit that went on sale last Friday - is also pending. That means offers in and accepted on two units on this floor within a week of hitting the market. I hope they got their asking price or at least a price they are happy with. And.. New neighbors!

When I powerwashed this Chromebook yesterday, it decided I was British. I could not figure out how/why the spell check function was so funky. Until finally I got to the word neighbors and it said it was misspelled and needed a u inserted. CLUE. Found the setting and, sure enough, I was in Merry Old England.

Zoey has been slinking around here way too long. She has a cat collar that has a bell on it but somehow she manages to keep that bell silent. I was looking on Amazon for a solution and didn't find not but did find a cool rope-ish collar that I replicated today. She now has 3 bells on it. And I'll bet you she'll sneak up on me again yet tonight.

The Bellevue Arts Museum tweeted this afternoon that their membership discounts ended tomorrow... I like the Bellevue Arts Museum way way way better than the Seattle Art Museum. Their exhibits are way more interesting and their building is way more amenable to seeing the art and their shop is full of stuff that you just don't see anywhere else. It's farther away. Lots farther but there is very excellent bus service from here to there.

I don't go a lot because their free day is the first Friday of the month. It's always on my calendar and I never seem to get it together on that one day. I could go and pay any day but I always think - eh, I'll wait til the free Friday and then I don't. Sooooo. Long story short longer... the senior membership is discounted to $40. And I am now a new member!

I'm jazzed.

Tomorrow is house cleaner day. I always try to save my messy cooking for house cleaner eve. Tonight it's just a saute which won't be too bad but I do want to use up some stuff. So onions/mushrooms and shrimp over pasta.

But, first I have some teddy bear to knit.
