At my core, I am a contrarian. I'd love to say it's because I am being thoughtful and passionate about productive, important causes or ideals... But really it's not for any good reason. If everyone is on board, I'm hopping off. Just because. I'd never install granite countertops. I will dump my two remaining stainless steel appliances as soon as they die and will replace them with Anything Else. I love cold, dark and damp. I hate sun and heat.

And, I enjoy switching to and from Daylight Saving Time. I really like the dark mornings. Daylight had begun to creep into my drive home from the pool and now it's back to dark again which I much prefer. For the most part, I like having more daylight at the end of the day. At least for a while. But, mostly, I like the change and knowing that it will change again next fall.

Of course, easy for me to say, I don't have to be anywhere anytime and have massive leisure time to spend. But, still, I do like it.

This morning, at the pool, two new people showed up - a middle aged couple with giant fins and snorkel equipment. They spent more time getting set up and then un setting up than actual pool time. Even in the pool, they spent a lot of time chatting at one end or the other. As I got out of the shower after my swim, she was coming in. She explained they were going on a snorkeling cruise soon and had been hoping for a little practice. "But, turns out, we don't like swimming without fish." hahahah. I allowed as how I didn't like swimming without lane lines. Contrarian.

I'm gathering some non-doll sewing projects in my head. No way will I abandon the dolls - even without a taker - but it is nice to know that I now have time to sew other stuff. I have about a week or so of dolls already in process and once I get through that batch, I may well branch out a bit.

Today I'll head out to Costco, once it opens, and otherwise, it will be just the usual.

I ran into Ann this morning - my neighbor down the hall. Turns out she is moving to a retirement home north of here (Mill Creek) and she seems OK with it which is amazing since she's never OK with anything. Oh and she's also OK with the sale of her condo. She and her huband bought it in 1993 for about $175,000. The couple who are buying it currently living in the apartment building across the street. Closing in June. Asking $520. Offer $585. I seriously could never afford to live here. Amazing. Oh and the 2017 tax estimate is about $1000 less than what it will very likely be. Happy homeowning!

I have perfected my single serving quiche game...

1. savory tart shell
2. beat 1 egg with half as much heavy cream (2 tablespoons?)
3. layer the tart shell with shredded cheese (I use Trader Joe’s Shredded Swiss & Gruyere Cheese)
4. add extras*
5. pour egg/cream over everything
6. top with more cheese

Bake at 350 for 20 mins. YUM

* Today was chopped up green onion tops and some diced prosciutto.

The Mariners are having another less than stellar day. They are 23-1 against the Brewers and we're only in the 5th.
