I was dead asleep when my alarm went off this morning. But, since I was getting up to swim, I didn't mind one bit. It was totally worth it.

Last week, I got a tiny little booboo on the bottom of my foot. It kept annoying me in a hangnail way, particularly on the rug in the kitchen so I put a nice, padded, blister bandaid on it. Fixed the problem perfectly. I assumed it would come off in the pool. It didn't. Finally, I took it off today - at least a day late - and took some skin off with it so now, I have a still small but bigger booboo on the bottom of my foot.

Thanks go ... again ... to my personal AnnoyingTechProblemSolver [livejournal.com profile] colesdragon. This time he prompted me to really dig into removing Pinterest from my search results and I did and I found a lovely Chrome Extension (actually made by google) that now puts this on any page that, before, would have included links to Pinterest.

When you click on show, the blocked sites are listed and highlighted and you can easily unblock if you want. Sadly, it does not work for image searches but, hey, you can't have everything I guess.

I have no specific plans for this week right now - except going to the Mariner game tomorrow night. I have sewing I can do and knitting I can do and some ideas of stuff to try but nothing concrete or deadline-y. So I'll just be doing whatever the spirit calls for. The lovely life of a retiree.

I was back in the sewing room which is about 25 yards from the sliding glass doors and the only access to the outdoors in my condo. I was back there sewing away and smelling smoke like bonfire smoke. The door to the hallway is right there so I went out to see if it was coming from the hallway. Nope. I figured it must be my imagination.

Then my 'imagination' started to cough. And I kept smelling it and finally I decided that whatever it was, it would be better for me and my broken lungs to be closer to the air conditioner so I shut down the sewing and moved into the living room. I had the blinds down to keep out the sun but I raised one to see if maybe the sun had moved overhead already and holy crap on a stick.

Smoke. The air is full of it. It's horrid. Way worse than what we had a couple of weeks ago. Checking the news I learn that there is also ash everywhere. It's coming from forest fires but we've had forest fires before, plenty of times. I've never seen it like this. This sucks. My air quality app says HOLY FUCK. Well, actually not. Here's what it really says:

I'm not sure I love anything more than my air conditioner right now.

So... today's plan becomes TV and knitting. Time to find out who done it - Brit style.

I'm pretty optimistic about most everything. Except Humana Pharmacy's ability to get my prescriptions to me without drama.

Besides Humana, I'm pessimistic mostly about people. I think global warming is frying the common sense and decency out of most of them.

But, it's hard to be sincerely pessimistic. I think Trump is a brainless idiot who's election to president will shore up leadership elections for years to come. I loved Obama and still do. But. I honestly believe he gave us all a false sense of security and led us down the path of complacency from which The Donald will eject us like bad fruit. It will probably take 8 years and I probably won't be alive to see it but I do believe it will happen and the country will come out better for it.

The older I get the more optimistic I get. Maybe because I can almost see my own expiration date. And I don't have progeny who's future I need to fret. So yeah I think things will get better, but if they don't, I won't be around for any I told you sos.

Twitter says it will go away tomorrow by 5. I hope so because I have Mariner tickets tomorrow. It's only a half mile walk but I'm not excited to make it in this soup. My be time to try out Lyft. Or even, godforbid, Uber.

I'm not terribly thrilled at sitting in it to watch the game but, hopefully it will be gone and/or the smoke will be held off a little by the bowl of the stadium that surrounds my seat. Hope Hope Hope.
