Beached

This morning I woke up,again, short of breath. Not disastrously but enough so that brushing my teeth had to be a multi stage event. It's Saturday. I swam on Wednesday. I give up. Plus, if the issues are cumulative and/or result in long term issues, that's really a chance I'm not willing to take. I've beaten my lungs up enough and before I tried swimming again, they were doing pretty well. So when the pool opens this morning, I'll call and cancel the swim I scheduled for Tuesday. If/when I can get back to LA Fitness's bromine lap pools, I will try again. Until then, it's dry dock for this fish.

This week's pastry box did not thrill me so I tried out her other option... I ordered ala cart off her website and opted for pickup. She has about 6 pickup sites around the city and one isn't that far from me. They are open from 8-11 on Saturdays and Sundays. So you place your order and pay for it and then, just drive up and pick up. Could not be more simple. Today's box drew Biggie's attention...

That first one is a pistachio babka and it is what I ate when I got home. Lights and fluffy and just the perfect amount of sweet. Next to is us a savory scone (with gruyere, caramelized onions, calabrian chili: flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, onions, butter, heavy cream, gruyere cheese, calabrian chili paste). Then below that is a Peaches and cream (cheese) danish: flour, milk, yeast, sugar, salt, butter, cream cheese, vanilla, peach, oats, brown sugar. And a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie last week was not my most favorite ever but I do love a chocolate chip cookie so I thought I'd try one more time.

And so, I've already now had my once a day outing! I have slacked off on the hourly stretches and I need to get back into doing those.

I've had a hard time finding a new book to dive into. I've even gotten to the half way point of a couple now and abandoned. I even abandoned a Tana French. My reading mojo is missing. But in one of the ones I tried and abandoned there was the most delicious quote:

"in her lifetime this cordless telephone had been an innovation and obsolete"

One of the great joys of my own life is that I can say that about a number of really cool things.

I know that the most important bits of life are people and relationships and yada yada but I get as much or even maybe a bigger thrill from seeing and using and understanding the things. Things that people create and use and don't. I love that I've been able to see and experience so much.

Today I plan to see and experience some laundry and some TV and some crochet...
