The stock market has lost money for the past three days. But, yesterday... I lost $21,000. Funny money but, hey, even losing that much funny money is concerning. And, honestly, not that funny.

I woke up way too early this morning - just before 5. I got up and peed and then got back in bed thinking I'd just close my eyes and listen to the quiet for a bit before the treadmill. Then, it was 7 am!

S'ok. The only thing I really want to accomplish today is to go over to the cured meat deli this morning at 11. They make the best crispy pork belly sandwich but they don't make it often. Last night on Instagram, they said they had the meat done and would be selling the sandwiches starting at 11 until they ran out. I want to help them run out.

We're creeping up into the mid 70's this week. I'm ok until we hit 75 and then I start to get the I HATE HOT WEATHER blues. Looks like we won't make t that far for a week or so yet. But, still, I have the blinds down this morning to head off the hot morning sun that hits the terrace.

I got Biggie Yet Another New Toy. [I got it on Amazon but I bought a used one. Works great. Much cheaper.] He's been so good at not biting recently and I thought another distraction might help.

It's much smaller and nicer looking that the cardboard one plus it has the spinning feature. He likes it and I do, too! And, really, why not spend a few more $ on the million dollar cat?? (See stock market info above. Yep, [livejournal.com profile] bill_schubert, you inheritance is shrinking like a youknowwhat in a cold shower.

And speaking of squandering cash. When I was at Goodwill the other day, I picked up a tall glass vase. I had taken down the curtain that hid the a/c in storage and that little nook was looking sad. I put a tall table in there and stuffed fairy lights into the vase and now that sad corner is happy! (And, when I'm tired of the blue, I can change to a different color.)

I have now sufficiently recovered from waking up too early and am running behind! It's 10 and I'm not even dressed yet. Retirement. It's not all rainbows and unicorns.

Just as the NY Times announced vaccinated people don't need masks any more, I was coming back from picking up my sandwich and passed these three guys walking towards me. One was particularly good looking and I thought 'my! he's a looker' and then I realized I knew this because he didn't have on a mask and was too young to have been vaccinated. I was immediately repulsed! I cracked myself up with how intense my reaction was.

I'm so not ready for no masks. Vaccinations are available to everyone here and have been for long enough so that those who don't have them, don't have them on purpose. And are also the type to pretend to be vaccinated so they don't have to wear a mask.

But even if I did trust everyone not to lie and to be smart enough to get the damn vaccine, I'm still not sure I'm ready for no masks. Maybe it's inertia. I dunno but, it feels creepy.
