In the olden days - 2019 - there were two bridges for me - one to the pool in the north and one to the pool in the south. Today there are none. The bridge to the north that bypassed downtown easily was torn down in 2019. The bridge south, closed in 2020 for repairs. The detours are painful. I miss my bridges.

But, today we'll see if the work around to the north is palatable. The pool up there is way better so fingers crossed. I'm going to get there early in hopes a 10:30 swimmer is a no show.

In the meantime, I have yesterday's British Sewing Bee to watch.

Today is cool and breezy and a bit misty. One of the last few. Starting this weekend, the temperature starts to climb and the clouds start their summer break. I'm not looking forward to it. But the sooner it gets here the sooner it goes. But, today is my kind of day.

I killed an hour yesterday researching the best/easiest way to renew my notary public-ness. Four years ago, the condo's homeowner board (different regime than now) asked me to be a notary public. It has not been a burden. I notarize maybe 4 signatures a year. The license expires in November. I sent an email to the current president explaining the expiration and telling him that I didn't care one way or the other. If they want me to continue and want to pay, great. If not, then we'll just let it go.

Of course, the immediate response was 'we have a notary in the building???? we should put this in the newsletter'. It, of course, has been in the newsletter more than several times. He said he'd get back to me about renewal. He never did. But about a month later, I got a note from the management company that they would would like me to renew and will reimburse any fees. So...

Turns out, I can't do anything until 120 days out from expiration which is mid-July but then, there is a service that will do it all for me - renew license, purchase surety bond, get new stamp. For a price. No problemo.

Oh and for the record, I've been wearing my sandals on the treadmill every morning and the stabbing foot pain has not returned. so... YEAH!!

Swimming was much more natural this time after a break than others. It felt like I have been swimming every day. So that part was good. I did a half a mile and my pace was a hair better than my average according to Fitbit. But, over all, I'm going to give it a 6 out of 10. Maybe a 7.

The pool was not the crystal clear it used to be which is not horrible but not as nice, either.
The guys at the front desk were really great. They were helpful and attentive. They take reservations for today and tomorrow and that's it. They had no open slots for tomorrow. The 30 minute limit really sucks. BUT, the one to a lane is relaxed once you get to the pool. Today I could have stayed in for longer but didn't realize it until I was dry.

They do not require face masks if you have been vaccinated. They do not require any proof. So basically, if you are vaccinated even if only in your imagination, you can ditch the mask.

The main issue is getting there and back. It's 20 minutes - a very tedious 20 minutes. There are 4,896 traffic lights between here and there. If they are all red, it's 40 minutes. They are mostly not synchronized. Oh and there's a draw bridge so if it's up, you just park. It's not a fun trip there or back.

And my swim suit was done. The lycra was all stretched out and the elastic was a goner. I'm lucky it stayed on long enough for me to swim and make it to the showers. I donated it to their trash can. I wonder if my others are the same way. I do have fabric and elastic and pattern to make a new one so not a tragedy. More funny than anything else.

Weekends are not worth trying and Monday is a holiday but I might well just reserve a spot next week. Maybe. And then come here and bitch about the travel part of it.

I am glad I gave it a shot.

Now it's time to watch the sewing bee. Did not get to it this morning.
