Second/third/nn+ Guessing
Jul. 3rd, 2021 09:03 amI got the questionnaire from the behaviorist's office last night. It was fairly lengthy and not particularly well written but clearly written on the assumption that the cat in question had serious litter box issues. So... not impressive. BUT it sounds like most of their clients are because of litter box issues. And, I don't need a good behaviorist to be savvy in the ways of tech. I do think that survey needs some serious re-thinking/writing, tho.
And there are a million caveats and disclaimers on both their very horribly designed website and attached to the survey. But, again, I don't need a design guru, I need someone who can help with Biggie. I'd love to have my loving cat back but mainly I want to not be afraid to have him around. If they can make that happen, I'll forgive their bad taste and technical ineptitude.
And the money. Yikes.
Last night's game was fun because it was the first one with no restrictions and they made a BFD out of it and Ken Jennings, a personal fav, threw out the first pitch and sat with the TV guys in the 3rd inning for a chat. (I normally hate it when they do that - pull some rando in for a chat - but turns out, I don't mind when it's a fav!) But then the game got kind of boring until the 7th inning. It took until the walk off in the 11th but the Mariners pulled off a fairly ugly but convincing come from behind victory. I was unable to turn it off or fall asleep and they didn't win til 11:30. which is WAY past my bedtime.
I fell asleep quickly but then woke up at 5 rethinking the whole cat behaviorist thing. And I've been awake since.
So I have decided for good or for bad, I will proceed with the behaviorist and quit stressing over it. Worst case it will have been a waste of time and money and I'm lucky to have enough to both. Plus, I'll share all the details in case someone else is interested.
Meanwhile Biggie is now spending most of the time outside and not in his tree. He watches for birds and then hops up onto the railing and, at least mostly, hops back to the terrace. He comes in to eat, but does not eat much. I dug out an old can of Friskies last night and opened it for him and he ate a fair amount. He normally hates the stuff. I heard him munching on kibble at 5:15 this morning so I know he's getting sustenance. He's also been sleeping out on the terrace. He comes in mainly for treats and the litter box.
I've thought a lot about just bringing him in and not letting him out on the terrace. But that seems so mean. He's out there now just rabidly following every bird in the tree. Keeping a close and keen eye on all of them constantly. Probably plotting how they would taste.
No plans for today really. Ballgame tonight and maybe a nap to make up for last night and prepare for tonight but really that's about it. No going out for food. I need to eat up my fridge and freezer. And I've got plenty to entertain me right here.
