I have a great appreciation for luxury and last night we wallowed in it for a few hours and it was grand.

I handed over my tiny Smart Car to a very handsome valet parker and we went into the new El Gaucho. The old El Gaucho had been in a different location for a million years. It was dark and cozy and if Frank Sinatra had walked out of the shadows it would not have been shocking (well, his being dead and all, it might have been, but you get my drift).

The new place is far less brat pack-ie and far more just lovely. It's still dark and cozy but in a far more classy way. There's a live piano player at a grand piano. Our waiter was a wonderful guy who was a dead ringer for Stanley Tucci. They assembled steak tartare at our table and then caesar salad. Our steaks were done to perfection.

The whole experience cost me a fortune in tips alone BUT it was so worth it. We will do it again. And next time, I'm going to have to figure out how to save room for bananas foster.
