Retired people (at least this retired person) develop a daily routine. When you add one thing to that routine, it equals busy. If you add two, it's BUSY. More than that, it's a freakin hamster wheel of a life!

Today could turn into that hamster wheel here at SDHQ.

I meant to go to Costco yesterday and totally forgot. I have shoes to return. Their old people hours are 9-10 Tuesdays and Thursdays now. In addition to making it easier, I feel it's important to support their continued support of us. So probably I will move that item to tomorrow's schedule and so make it busy already.

I have a crochet pattern that I want to reverse engineer. I'd buy it but it's from a UK magazine of several years ago and no longer for sale. But, it's pretty simple and I have a fair number of photos so it's just a matter of studying the pix and writing it down. Time. It just takes time.

I have ginger cookies in the fridge that need to be rolled out and cut up and baked. If fail, then I'm going to make up a batch of regular Toll House cookies. If no fail, then I'm going to eat and enjoy.

There is a baseball game at 11 but it is on Youtube only and I'm still pissed at the Mariners and they are playing (and so losing to) Houston again so I will probably have it on the laptop in a tab that I only glance at now and again. Maybe.

I cashed in my Mariners ticket for next Tuesday. It's a Boston game which is always a big ticket around here and, in fact, I got a lot more money back than usual. Next year's season ticket price is going down down down. I still have two more games. I will likely do the same with those tickets but I'm going to wait and decide sooner to those dates. One's on the 28th and the last one is a Sunday game - the last game of the season.

Also today, I have trash to take to the dumpsters.

I mean really, how is one supposed to get all this done in a day? Geesh. Guess I'd better get started.

I wanted a ginger snap without the outside sugar and the inside over sweet taste. I wanted the taste of a traditional gingerbread man but with snap! And I got it!!

Here's the recipe I used.

These were the most satisfying to make. For one thing, as much as I love cookie dough, this was not even remotely appealing to eat so I did not get full while I cleaned up. The dough came out of the bowl into a plastic bag and stayed in the fridge in plastic bag all night.

I lightly floured the mat and then used wax paper on top of the ball of dough. Rolled out very nicely and evenly and no sticking!!

I squeezed in too many on the first round but corrected after.

Now I have a very good lot for storage testing if I don't eat them all first.

The plan is a few in the cookie jar. A few on a plate in the open air. A few in a zip lock bag.

Damn they are good.

The game is on YouTube as the only video and their game coverage has to be the worst in all of baseball. They have been interviewing yesterday's pitcher (who is in the dugout) for the last 10 mins. So there is no way way to even know what's going on with the game. I now have it on TV muted.

The radio broadcast is being led by The Idiot (Aaron Goldsmith who has never shut up in his entire life and also never played baseball and insists on discussing his son instead of the game.)

So I'm a silent game watcher today which is ok because they are, of course, losing. I'm as pessimistic about them right now as [livejournal.com profile] kensmind is hopeful.
