The Mariners gave up most hope yesterday. Which, coincidentally, was also the day they give season ticket holders the first chance to buy their seats for those imaginary playoffs. I have the opportunity to buy my seat's 'strip' for $4,400. There is no explanation for what the 'strip' will include but I suspect it will be maybe the first round of playoffs? There was a notation that refunds will be issued for games that don't happen. I'm guessing my seat will go for about $500-600 per game. More than I want to spend. Even if they do play.

No game today. There are three weeks of games left. I returned the rest of my tickets for this year. I'll use the money towards next year's games.

Today I have errands. I will probably do the market/chinese food run that I had planned for yesterday. Also yet another stop at Amazon to drop off yet another return. I need to pop into the vet for more Biggie pills and to the pet food store but they are in the opposite direction and not critical. Maybe tomorrow.

Yesterday's cookies actually did end up nicely crisp! I'm going pop most of them into the freezer and test that. Those ginger cookies that I froze have turned out to be a gold mine. I can pull out one or two and they are room temp in minutes and ready to eat. Fresh and delicious.

Next up in the baking lab will be cheese straws. Plain and simple cheese straws. I could eat about a million of them when they aren't even the best. I have lots of ideas about cheese straws. But first I want to make them plain and perfect.

Maybe today. I haven't decided yet.

The gray birds are missing this morning. I wonder if they have left town. I can't see any or hear any and Biggie is feeling at loose ends. It could be a long winter for him. A lot of this:

There won't be any cheese straws today... maybe tomorrow. Today turned out to be Run Errands All Over Town Day. I did not even do my parking lot walk because - see previous sentence.

This morning I did do the little market that I usually love but today there was no love - they didn't have what I wanted and they lost one of my bags and their Google Pay station didn't work.

But, then I called and ordered up Chinese which was ready for me when I got there. I had considered ordering from the place that is much closer but turns out they don't open til 11 so back to the inconvenient place which is about half the cost and, after eating it for lunch, I remembered just how delicious it is. Happily I ordered enough so that I have two more full meals in the fridge.

Then, this afternoon, I hit the wrong button. Instead of 'print a label and leave out for UPS pick up', I hit 'I'll take it to a UPS store' Ugh. Except there's one not that far from the vet - pick up and nearly across the street from the pet food store. So out again.

Interestingly, I actually rarely leave the house, particularly in the car, after lunch. I'm used to being at places when the door opens. So places that have 2 or 3 or 4 parking places reserved for them in a lot, always have a space for me. Turns out, in the afternoons, those parking slots are full! They were at the vet. They were at UPS and they were at the pet food store. I'm sticking to my mornings.

Also the pet food store didn't have Biggie's favorite. Biggie's going to need to get a new favorite. They sent me home with a bunch o' free samples. I love that store.

OMG!!! The county just issued the most amazing order... Starting October 25, Proof of vaccine OR recent negative test will be required! for all indoor dining, drinking, entertainment, outdoor sports, gyms, movie theaters, music venues. Whoa!!! Way to go, my local government!!! You are the best. I'm very impressed and very grateful.

And there is more breaking news... This just in from condo email:

Ella found her way home at 4:30am last night. Not sure where she went, but I heard her outside on the balcony in the early morning hours. Thanks to everyone who has been on the lookout, and no more midnight balcony adventures for Ella!

I started watching Finding Alice on Acorn TV last night. It's excellent and I want to find out what happens so tuning in now!
