[livejournal.com profile] rsc explained the whole 'strip' thing for baseball playoff tickets - wonder why the Mariners could not have done that?

The "strip" is all possible playoff games that the team could conceivably host. Season-ticket holders have to commit to the whole strip in order to get their regular seats for any of it. The purchaser's credit card is charged one series at a time, generally a week or two before that series begins. Any games not played are refunded.

And so I bought my seat. I had enough in my account so that I only had to pay $560 (yeah, I get how that sounds). I think the chances of the Mariners playing any playoff games is ridiculously slim. And even more slim are the chances they will play one at home. BUT, it would be fun to go to even one losing playoff game for sure. Plus, the proof of vaccine rule will apply. So, there ya go.

My new recliner is due here today. The tracking still shows it's expected delivery by that amorphous "end of day". BUT that same tracking is showing that the chair is in Portland. My hopes aren't high. That's ok. It will get here someday.

Today I'll sort out the electronics under my current chair. They won't fit under the new one so they need to get reorganized. And I need to noodle out a little bed for Biggie for next to the new chair. He made his own last night out of a bag of yarn and a half done afghan but I think I can do better. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to hit the area with a vacuum either.

I also need to figure out what I'm going to do with these two IKEA chairs. They need a new home. They aren't worth enough to a charity to pick them up. Goodwill would take them if I could get them there which I cannot. I might try freecycle but my hopes aren't high. I might just pay those cute guys who hauled out my terrace stuff to come get 'em. That will probably cost me as much as the chairs did!

I've got nowhere I have to go today. I'll walk the parking lot but otherwise, I'll be right here. It's supposed to rain which would be so wonderful.

There may actually be cheese straws today.

Well, these were interesting. I think my mistake was using pre grated cheddar. I wanted the sharpest I could find and they don't have super sharp in that nice, tiny, shredded variety. NFW am I going to grate cheese. I have not got enough life left to waste it that way. So my cheese baking suffers.

The dough would not fully blend. It could have used some more butter but I didn't have any more room temp so I just splashed it with milk until it stuck together enough to roll out.

BTW, I have the flourless rolling out between parchment papers totally nailed.

I rolled these out extra thin so I could have twice as many when I ate them. They are tasty.

Next time:

1. Use tiny shredded but not as sharp cheese
2. Double on the cayenne pepper
3. Cut the recipe in half
4. Maybe roll em out a little thicker - probably cookie thick would be best.

But they are tasty!!

Here's the recipe I used and my notes.

Late this afternoon I was sitting here trying to think of something good for dinner and not coming up with anything. The phone rang. It was [livejournal.com profile] ljtourist.

"you have plans for dinner tonight?"
"nope"
"you had dinner already?" (he knows me!)
"nope"
"can you hold off eating for 45 minutes?"
"yep"

He said he'd be here to drop off food. Well, ok! I had zero clues.

In 45 minutes he called that he was really close and I told him I'd meet him on the street.

And there he handed me a giant bag from Church's... tons of fried chicken. tons of fried okra (the good stuff breaded in corn meal) and two biscuits.

It was a giant bag of OMG perfection. He handed it over and went on his way. It was almost magical. It's been years, probably 30 or more since I have had Church's fried chicken. There are 3 in the state - two probably 30 mins or more south of here and one 30 mins or more north of here.

So I had a perfectly marvelous perfectly delicious dinner with tons of leftovers. (Is there anything that makes a better leftover than fried chicken???)

Honestly, the only better than a surprise dinner delivery is a surprise delivery of fried chicken and fabulous fixin's. I can't even believe it.
