Home Alone

Biggie is at the vet's for his bandage change and checkup. I feel like I say this every time but it's so weird and so true - how different this house feels when he's not here.

He was not at all delighted when I corralled him into what [livejournal.com profile] richaarde calls his Biggie Baggie. I got to the vet just as they opened and ran into not one, but two less than helpful front desk people. Mostly all their staff is fab but I sure hit two cranks this morning.

We sat and waited in the lobby. Normally, after a wait, they put us into an exam room and a tech comes in to have me sign 'yes, i will pay for whatever' papers and asks me questions and then takes him away. But, today, after we'd been there less than 5 minutes, Dr. Moore, herself came out to the lobby to get Biggie. "Everyone else was busy so I thought I'd just come get him so you didn't have to wait." I've taken to writing her a short update note every week so I handed him and the note over and we were on our way. I really do like her so much and am so grateful that we have her.

Now I'm home. Biggie-less.

Today's todos include:

1. Move drugs from Costco to Humana Pharmacy. I'm going to be, hopefully, moving my one expensive drug to Humana at the end of the year to save oodles o' cash so I figure I'll just move the rest and save even more. Three of my drugs are generic and cheap but Costco charges me $100 a year for them total. Humana Pharmacy charges me $0 a year for them. They can be a PIA to deal with but I like the savings.

2. Vacuum. I'll have robby do the whole house. Biggie's ok with robby these days but I figure why stress him out when I can do it while he's gone.

3. Laundry. I'd love to get into the habit of doing laundry when I get a load full rather than waiting until I'm out of clean clothes and have to do bunch of loads at a time.

I finished watching The One - an 8 episode series - on Netflix. It was very different and very good. I went to sleep last night noodling my way through the complicated plot. It was way better than I expected.

The house is vacuumed and the laundry is done and put away! Oh and the treadmill is greased.

I had a biscuit for breakfast and it was very meh. I had pulled it out of the freezer where there are two more also probably meh. And then I remembered... hey! I can make better. So I dumped the two frozen ones and made a new batch using my notes from after last time.

BEST Biscuits EVER!!!! I know that cause I ate one for lunch. That's why there are only three in the pic.

I re-wrote the recipe and now I'm sorry I didn't double the batch. Next time.

There are two food make/deliver services that I'm stuck on.

One is small meat pies. You order by noon Friday and they deliver on Monday. I get 5 because that's the free delivery break point. I put 1 in the fridge and 4 in the freezer. They are fab and fast and fantastic.

The other one is frozen/ready to cook pizza. It's so delicious and it's the perfect size. Perfect for my Ninja oven and perfect for my eating. I eat half and then freeze half. These ya gotta order on Mondays. They "open" at noon and are sometimes gone by noon:15. I notice now at 2 there appear to be a couple left. These people deliver on Wednesday.

So today I got my pies delivered and placed my pizza order.

Also I ordered cat food. Mud Bay (my local chain) has parking spaces set aside at each location for "pick up". So I thought I'd just go onto their website and place an order and pick it up when I go get biggie. Except their website was made by devil spawn and it didn't look like they had what I wanted at two locations on the way home from the vets plus I couldn't figure out how to order for pickup and based on my zip code, they don't deliver to me.

So. Chewy's it is. I like Chewy's anyway so I don't mind giving them my biz one bit. Plus they are so fast, I'll probably get the stuff by Wednesday.

So now, everything is done. The house is clean. The todos are all finished. And all that is left is to wait for Dr. Moore to call so I can go pick up The King.

Biggie is home. With no bandages! The Biggie Baggie will now be put on the shelf. Whew. And Yahoooo!

Dr. Moore said that his feet were just not healing without air so air they will get. He got a big old shot of antibiotics and orders to wear a collar. But, honestly, I don't think he'll need it long. She just doesn't want him to lick a hole in his feet.

He's licking everything now - gotta get that vet office stench off of himself but he's far more interested in the birds and dinner than in his feet. He just tried to get up into the new cat tree and if he had not had his collar on, he'd have done it!

He's moving around pretty well all things considered.

When she called, Dr. Moore said that after he woke up from the anesthesia, he pooped in the litter box and then started meowing loudly for someone to come clean it up. That's King Biggie! She said to keep her posted on his progress via email but unless something bad happens, he does not need to go back.

Now he's on the floor staring out at the bird.

I'm so glad we got home before dark so he could see his frienimies.
