I am now convinced that the check that is lost is, actually, lost in the mail. The PO box it was mailed to is an auto-deposit situation at a bank. So, if they got it, it would have been cashed. It has not. I'm waiting now for Daisy to confirm and then I'll call the bank. THANKTHELORD I used my BECU account for this one. Of all the places I do money things, they are the best to deal with in situations like this.

A vet from where Biggie had surgery called last night. He said that Biggie did not have cancer ?????? And that he needed a special diet for his IBD ???? and his FeLV ????? The guy said I needed to call their office tomorrow and make an appointment to see an internist next week. Zero of what he said made any sense to me. I was too flummoxed to even start with the questions. I told him I'd talk to my vet.

Cancer??? who/why did anyone think he had cancer? But, Yeah, that he doesn't! IBD??? who/why does anyone think eh has Inflammatory Bowel Disease? He's never shown the first sign of it. And he does NOT have FeLV. In fact, he just got his second vaccination to prevent it. I'm done with those people.

I sent a note to Biggie's regular vet asking their opinion. But, now, having slept on it, unless the regular vet raises a flag, we are going to just pretend that vet last night didn't call.

What part of the universe thinks Biggie and I need to spend MORE time and money in a vet's office???? Whichever part it is, they are wrong.

His highness is currently sitting in his recliner on his heating pad. Do not tell him that I have not turned the heating pad on yet today. There are about 3 dozen birds in the tree right now. He's watching them carefully.

This morning is a grocery store run. I think the best money is to get out there and get that done early. It would be smarter to get delivery but I'm pretty sure the store has what I want and it's just not in the web site inventory. So I'll chance it.

Tomorrow, it's back to the vet for stitch removal and then we can stay safe at home for days to come.

Daisy found my check!!! And my account now shows the $$. Whew.

But, even better, I heard from a tech to talked to one of the vets and the news is not only good, it makes total sense.

She says that some vets consider a cat has FeLV if they have EVER had a positive test. Biggie had one and has since had two negatives.

And this "there are plenty of cats out there that have subclinical IBD, and as he’s not having any symptoms, a diet change may not be necessary." Whew.

Plus she told me that they actually have an internal medicine specialist on staff at one of their other locations and she can always set us up with an appointment if I want to be sure. I did not know this and am so glad to hear it.

I think, for now, we just leave well enough alone. And Biggie agrees. So yeah!

I went to a Safeway with an underground garage that smelled like a Sea Of Pee. It was seriously horrible. Also a lot of weirdly empty shelves. I scored the last bag of curly noodles. I didn't even look at the pet food. BUT I did manage to get what I wanted and then I got a cashier who was - at that moment - breaking up with her boyfriend. Merry Christmas. I got out of there back through the pee garage.

I was wearing a KN95 disposable mask. I pulled it off on the drive home. When I got to the garage here, I put it back on. It STILL SMELLED OF PEE!! So 1. mask to trash and 2. that Safeway is Off The List. Ugh.

Now I think I'll go toss in the first load of laundry.

No more medicine to make him groggy. The collar gets in his way a little but not much.

So.... let's check out this post up where it meets the ceiling... 12 feet from the floor!!
