I did go swimming and It was very good and totally worth the effort. I tried the minimal baggage. I wore my suit in and took my goggles, music player and in small bag for my wet suit. After my swim, I dried off, put my suit in the bag, put my dress back on and came home. It was fine. I wear my crocs to the pool's edge and back.

I do think I'll take my regular bag but only put the minimum in there. Simplicity.

The pool water yesterday and today was crystal clear. I don't know why, but it is way more fun to swim in clean clear water.

When I got in the elevator back home, I ran into my neighbor, Renae. Renae and Doug have been here for a good 20+ years and are good peops. She's a Starbucks exec and he does residential building management (buildings like this but not this one).

They did a huge remodel about 5 years ago and today I found out they did NOT add air conditioning. Holy crap. She said they thought about it and, of course with every hot spell since, have thought about it again. I told her about my experience. And that morphed into Jathan.

Jathan is our current live in building manager. He's been out 'ill' since the first of the month and last week we got a note that he's not going to be back until the 24th. And everyone in the know has zipped their lips. Renae knows nothing and is as curious but then also went on a mini rant about what does he even do any more. He's pawned off most of his work to the cleaner or the board. He's been gone now for two weeks and nothing's really not getting done. "Why do we even NEED a live in manager any more? Especially one who does nothing and is impossible to get a hold of anyway?" Renae is NOT a whiner so I was kind of shocked but totally agree.

Interesting. Very interesting.

I hung my wet suit up on the shower rod and it, the shower rod, promptly fell to the ground. It's a tension rod. When I had the shower redone, I got two rods - one for my suits and one for the shower curtain. Since I haven't been swimming, I haven't used the second one. Happily it was right where I thought I had stashed it and now it is installed and after a couple of bungled efforts the shower curtain is back up. Scared the shit out of Julio whose job includes anything and everything that goes on in the shower.

I am starving but I leave for brunch in 30 mins so shut up brain.

I just heard from the Kiwis. When they left here to go to Alaska, they got to the airport 3 hours early. By the time they got through all the security shit, they had like 10 minutes before their plane boarded.

Today they got to the airport in Anchorage 3 hours early and the security shit took them 10 mins. Happily they found Krispy Kreme and coffee. They will be here about the time the game ends.

Time to get my game day shit together.

My friends on the Press Club staff were as glad to see me as I was to see them. "You haven't been here in forever" "Well, you guys had a week of non games!"

The cute usher whose name is Young was the first to tell me their All Star Week tales but others did, too. They enjoyed it enormously, it was a ton of work and lots of excitement and pretty much all of them were happy to see it in the rear view window.

They all - and Matt, my seat neighbor who was there - reported that the game itself was so unlike other games. All the seats were filled and once the first pitch was out of the pitchers hand, no one moved. The concourses which are usually teaming with people standing in line or just walking around was EMPTY! The vendors, who planned for huge crowds, were pretty much ignored once the game started.

Matt said he was afraid to even go pee because "all these guys are so great, you don't want to miss a minute".

At last night's game, they gave out Hawaiian Mariners shirts. I wanted one but didn't have a ticket. Today Young asked me if I wanted one "I think I can find you one but you can't tell anyone." She did find me one and wrapped it in an All Star Towel and put it in an unmarked bag and brought it to me and it's a very cool shirt!

AND... we won the game!!! Ray, the single guy on the other side of me from Matt who has barely said more than 2 words a game all season, was really chatty today. Weird. But, fun.

Scott and Julie got to their hotel from Alaska today and just called. They are going out on their own tonight and then will come here tomorrow. They can get in here without me so I told them I was going swimming and would likely be home, showered and dressed by the time they got here, if I wasn't, to come on in and entertain the cats. They are such easy and wonderful guests.

So all is excellent here!
