this 'n that
Sep. 1st, 2009 04:50 pmZDTV caused me to first expand my Comcast subscription. It turned into TechTV and I watched it constantly and then it turned into G4 and the content changed substantially and I called Comcast and went back to basic. There were several dry years and then CNET started on their website - video podcasts. And Revolution(thanks for the editing) Revision3 stepped up to the plate and now there are 'tv' shows all over the internet and they are great.
I can watch them on my TV and I do. For a year or so I've had this ridiculous setup of computer that routinely trolled for the podcasts and downloaded them and then slip them over to the TiVo server which flipped them over to the TV. It was a massive work around but it worked.
But in the last few weeks TiVo had upped the ante and put all of those I'm currently addicted to on their list of Video On Demand so I can just get Season Passes and they show up right there with House Hunters and The Big Bang Theory and endless reruns of Law and Order.
Very very very nice.

I'm conjuring up a new adventure for Saturday. I've wanted to go to Blue C Sushi since forever. It's one of those sushi places where the food comes by on a conveyor belt. There's a bus (28) that pretty much goes from here to there (Fremont). So I think I'll just take it and 'do' lunch on Saturday and then walk home from there. It's a fairly long trot but not up hills and, if it's too much, I'll just hop a bus the rest of the way.
It's supposed to be cool and rainy on Saturday which is perfect walking weather in my book.

I got a handwritten/hand addressed thank you note from the bank manager at my new bank. How cute is that?

Date: 2009-09-02 02:42 am (UTC)G4 is living proof that the quickest way to take something good and totally fuck it up is to get Comcast involved.
And you mean Revision3 :-)

Date: 2009-09-02 02:49 am (UTC)I did not know Comcast had anything to do with G4. While I am hesitant to defend Comcast, G4 ain't the only fucked up TV network and I don't think Comcast fucked them all up.

Am I understanding correctly that you're going to attempt walking back to your place from Fremont? That's five miles!

Oh, definitely.
I had to look up Nickerson on Google Maps. That actually turns into Westlake at the Fremont Bridge, so you probably wouldn't actually be walking on the Nickerson part. You'd get bypassed by buses on either Westlake (17 & 30) or on Dexter (26 & 28).
I don't remember the extent of your Internet capabilities on your phone, but have you looked into One Bus Away? I swear by it, as it can be used to look up real-time bus arrival information using either route number or stop number. It would be very useful in exactly this kind of situation, I should think.
