Now, that's just cool
Sep. 22nd, 2009 08:08 amI did a little too much desktop cleanup on my new little eeepc and lost the recycle bin. I thought it was easily accessible elsewhere but, I forgot some of XP's downsides and so needed to restore it.
I googled and one of the first hits was a Microsoft KB page. What the heck, I'll see what they have to say first.
Instead of the usual Microsoft Knowledge Base pages for which you have to have a trowel to dig out the info you need, this one was clean and simple and basically repeated my issue - need to restore recycle bin on xp and then gave me two links. 1) fix it for me and 2) let me fix it myself.
Normally, I would go for #2. But,this machine is new and easily restore to factory default if something hoses so I'm not as protective so I went for 'fix it for me'.
In very nearly a blink of the eye, my Recycle Bin appeared on my desktop again!
Nice work, Microsoft!!

I continue to be amazed that we live in a world where a "fix it for me" button -- and one that works no less! -- even exists.
