From my early morning

The parking lot already had 5 tailgate parties going. Before 8. No alcohol allowed. And a band was setting up on a temporary stage.

The downtown - main - library does not open its book drops until 9:30?!! What the fuck is up with that???

It was nice and cool and the sun was not out in my face yet. It was a lovely walk with a nice bloody mary and eggs benedict at the end.

Now I'm going to watch the Mariners try not to fuck up another game and finish my dinosaur.

These days, they're worried about people blowing up the library, so the drops don't open till they can station someone to inspect.

That's bizarre. The Tigard library DOES lock their walk-up outside book drops - but - only when the library's open so people can walk in. (I assume it makes less work for them but it startled me the first time I tried to dump the books at the first opportunity.) The drive-up ones are always open, though, and the outside walk-up are open when the library isn't.

That library book drop thing is definitely new. I've dropped off books after hours more than once there in the past. And I think it's really stupid. (And if they're doing it because of bomb worries, I would think anyone who really wanted to try blowing up the library would try whether or not they could use the book drop.)
