This 'n' that
Sep. 29th, 2009 12:14 pmSo far there has only been a little work today. There is lots to do but there are management issues so it has not yet filtered down to me. The floodgates could open any minute. Or not. Who knows. This is, sometimes, a very strange job.
While waiting, I've been doing this and that. I refilled my hand cream dispensers which is kind of a production. The hand cream I am addicted to comes in stupid pots that you have to dig into so I pipe it into decent squeeze dispensers. It's only a bother about every 3 or 4 months and today was the day.
And while I was filling stuff, I filled up my contact lens cases. I have two prescription creams for dermatitis that need to be used together so I mix 'em up and put them in lens cases that are easy to keep handy around the house. I also use a contact lens case for hand lotion for my purse. Filled that one up too. I somehow always end up with 40 bajillion contact lens cases so I'm always trying to figure out how to use them.
And I'm ripping library books - into mp3's.
And I cut up a chicken. I bought one of those roasted chickens yesterday and had it for dinner last night, a sandwich today and there is at least another sandwich plus 2 or more servings of chicken salad left. Not bad for $5.
Next on my hit parade, if the flood does not hit first. Clean up the kitchen.
Then a quick trip to Costco. I feel badly going without my neighbors. I usually take Ann and Ron but they love to milk the experience which is usually fine but today all I need is coffee and I don't want to take the time to do the tour. I'll take them sometime soon.
I had a huge TiVo scare last night. One of mine was giving me a white screen for some (not all) channels. The others were fine (indicating not a cable issue) so I rebooted the one. It came back almost to done and then rebooted itself again and again. ARUGH! This is exactly the problem I've heard - caused by the USB expander drives one of which I have attached to that box. Sigh. Finally, just before major panic set in, it booted all the way and everything worked.
I first made a list of all the Season Passes on that box. Then I transferred the movies and stuff I keep to watch one day over to a harddrive on my PC for safe keeping. Now I'm at least prepared for disaster. I did miss the first half of House but it will be on the web a week from today. I sure wish TiVo would get their online act together and let you keep and manipulate your Season Passes from their website. It's been high on user wish lists since for freakin' ever.
Ok, I'm done. Kitchen clean up time.
