It's Sunday morning so this is my usual post-from-bed about getting up and heading out for a long walk through town to brunch. I kind of thought about going to stretch class but just can't bring myself to face that instructor. So I'll take the bus to the other side of town and walk back.
I finally cracked a little piece of network software this morning that's been bugging me. Or rather, the response from the author to my query on the forum is what cracked the code.
After I finally got it all operational, I went back to the forum and replied of my success and then went to the website and clicked donate. I'm generally annoyed by shareware. But I will generally always donate for freeware that I use. (I also think it's interesting that I rarely hear back from my donations. Once in a while I'll get a lovely thank you note, but mostly I hear nothing. It's nothing more than interesting. They created the software and provided it to me with no strings, I don't need a thank you note.)
And one more thot before I get out of this nice, warm, cozy bed... I love this new Acer Timeline. I wish it was 11 inches instead of 13 but, otherwise it is wonderful. The keyboard is one of the best I have ever used. The keys are slick and easy and the touchpad is very functional and the screen is bright and pretty. I'll be glad to get Windows 7 on it. I could live with Vista Premium but this thing has Vista Home and it's just annoying.
It did not come with a massive amount of bloatware. But it did have some. Easy enough to blow away the stuff I did not want. But, a good portion of the bloatware was casual games from Oberon (iPlay) and I'm enjoying the heck out of their trials. I will end up buying several of them I'm sure.
Ok, now it's into the shower. It's a chilly morning and should be perfect for walking.

Date: 2009-10-11 07:31 pm (UTC)Turns out, 1 was wrong. It's XP Home that does not come with any back up app. Yeah I know, there's a million work arounds but still, it should.
2 is group policy editor. There is none in Vista Home (or XP Home) and it's a major PIA.
3 is - I can't remember.
Clearly, I'm firing emotional bullets here - my Windows7 upgrade for that machine is free so I'm really firing blanks but no group policy editor does suck.
