a teaching moment

susandennisIt turns out... contrary to maybe not popular but surely my on belief... I am not the registry editing wizard, I thought I was! I've read those warnings, of course I have. Editing the registry can turn your computer into a carrot. But, heck, I've edited before... no biggie.
Until... I went one step too far... yep. I made a carrot. And system restore sure didn't help much.
So I am not able to report that the Acer eRestore thingie works quite nicely. They don't give you a lot of instructions but I guess they figure if you are stupid enough to turn your computer into a carrot, you deserve a little punishment and their flavor is 'guess what the next step is??'
But, now - only 20 minutes later - Windows is setting up my computer for first time use. Nice if it, doncha think?
Happily, work is slow so I have time to fuck with it.
Chef Tom is in the kitchen making heavenly smells. I already had one of the new dishes for lunch. Very excellent.
PLUS, he brought me a pile of recipes - books and notebooks - to pick from and I found a bascillion that were perfect and sever more biscillion that were close. We are good for a long time. (And, I found the recipe for one of the best dishes that Karen Former Chef did for me once.)
All is under control but now I have to go set up this new computer... again.
