An gym-avoidance entry
Oct. 16th, 2009 08:55 amI should go and get it over with for the day but instead I'm going to ramble here a bit first. No work yet today and there might not be any. I got a lot of things done yesterday - the kind of things you never get around to doing like cleaning out the humidifier and getting it ready for winter, organizing one of the kitchen cabinets that's been driving me nuts, pulling out all the sheets in the linen cupboard and designating most of them for Goodwill... stuff like that. I love getting stuff like that done.
***
I have a few more. I need to dust the ceiling fan. But, it requires getting up very high on a ladder and I like having a spotter for that. My neighbor/friend, Ann, will be happy to do it but I need to ask her first.
***
So far I have had three of the dishes that Chef Tom made for me and two of them are mega hits and the third one is pretty darned good. I need to make a grocery run today for frozen fries. I want Orida crinkles extra krispy and they can be hard to find, but I think I'll make it a mission.
***
Tomorrow's Saturday adventure, I believe, is going to be lunch at the new Blue C Sushi. It's not far from the bus stop I go to on Sundays - the one on the other side of town. It does not open until 11 so I'll probably combine it with a trip to Daiso, my favorite store for cool little Japanese shit. They have very small cleaning brushes. They were very helpful in cleaning out the humidifier but I need a couple of different sizes and shapes. Plus, I just love that place.
***
On one of my cleaning bouts last week, I tossed out the red envelope that belonged to my Netflix DVD. Doh. I sent it back to them in my own envelope according to their directions. In their red envelope, they would have gotten it on Wednesday. No sign that they have seen it yet. I'm sure they hate it when idiots muck up their finely tuned operation. I know I would.
***
I went out to run an errand yesterday and drove down a residential street not terribly far from here to find that their trees were nearly naked and their yards were blanketed in beautifully colored leaves.
I have this tree outside my terrace. It is The Tree That I Hate. A few - like 5% - of the leaves are kind of yellow. The rest are green and hanging on with a tenacity that I wish I had. They are mocking me - NO! We will NOT give you back your view. We are going to hang here all freakin' winter long. Ha ha ha ha You can't touch us!
I really do hate that tree.

Ok, ok. I'll go to the gym. Get off my back. I'm going.

Date: 2009-10-17 12:10 pm (UTC)On cleaning ceiling fan blades: I purchased a Swiffer with extendable handle for just that purpose, and I've been pleased with it for that and other dusting.
Enjoy your Saturday adventure!

Date: 2009-10-17 02:36 pm (UTC)On the other side of the room, I have a desk with three drawers, a giant file cabinet and another cupboard full of crap. All but 5% needs to be taken to the dumpster. Do I clean that? Heck no. I only toss out the critical stuff. blech!
