So guess what happened???

I got 'em back!! Both envelopes!! They are right here with me now. We are so doing the happy dance in this house today!!!!!



The carrier guy was very very nice about it. Clearly it did not make his job easier but he was careful. Asked for my ID and patiently went through all the mail - Netflix day... because my two envelopes were on the very bottom!

Now I have to go back and remember everything I promised deities I would do if one of them would just save my giant, sorry ass.

So sorry for your distress......but getting to read the full fiasco on a tired, yucky Monday was pretty darn good entertainment! Good thing you had an early problem....what if you forgot to mail it and then she had late fees and gets a nasty letter from her mortgage company!!! It could've been so much worse!
I could just see you stalking out the mail box!!!! Bet you would've had cookies and cash in hand to sweet talk the driver...when all you needed was a form!

OR what if I had not realized that I mailed it a week early??? Or what if I'd put it in a box that was collected immediately. The what ifs are horrible to think about. I'm just so grateful. It was an adventure.

Great outcome - with good customer service people and the carrier as well. I'm on the Cambridge Postal advisory board and the next time we meet with the Postmaster I'm going to ask her about cases like these and tell her about this one.

I was so knocked out by the across the board coolness of every postal employee I ran into yesterday. If they didn't know the answer, they said so and found someone who did. They were smart and sharp and kind and sympathetic.

I'd love to hear what she has to say about my adventure.
