Wrap up - day one
May. 16th, 2003 08:20 pmI'm sitting here beside an open window because we're having a thunder storm which is something we never get in Seattle. It's wonderful but it's a shock to have rain that is not cool. I guess I have officially lived in Seattle long enough to shed my Southern roots.
We've gotten a lot done. I wanted to get her new Tivo installation going in case there were big snags - like her tv was too old or something other major gotcha. But, of course, when you just have the Tivo and the TV and remove the VCR, DVD and cable box, the whole thing becomes really simple. We had the thing totally installed an running before dinner and let it do it's indexing thing at dinner. Not a single snag. Thanks, Vance... she's delighted. She had actually opened the box and gotten out the user manual and read at it. She's asking the right questions. Tomorrow will be lesson 1.
She has aged several years in the past 6 months. She can barely move with her bursitis. And as she's barely moving, she's telling me how incredibly better she is. She can't hear shit. I finally shouted out the question about had she had her hearing aids checked recently. The answer is, er, no cause she stopped wearing them a couple of months ago when they weren't working right. Sigh. We have an appointment on Monday.
I called and got her drug prescriptions moved to Walgreens. She had done one prescription but didn't know how to do the rest. One phone call - very very very nice Walgreens pharmacist.
Two of her remote controls have broken battery doors. Her grandsons. Tomorrow we will buy new remote controls. Oh I did move the VCR to her office tv and got that all set up and operating. She thought it was broken. It isn't.
Thank goodness for Real Audio Mariner games... Now if they could toss in a couple of runs for the Mariners to make this game more interesting...

Date: 2003-05-16 06:55 pm (UTC)The group that got on the plane in Vegas was so wound up and "lit" that they didn't settle down and go to sleep until about 2 hours before we landed in Maryland.
Unfortunately we were flying right into the sunrise, and as you said too, we were packed in tight and the airport felt like a sauna.
I really needed a nap because a few hours later, was my parents Anniversary party. I think I slept 2 hours on the plane, and maybe an hour at my brothers house before the party that afternoon.
But the best part of the whole day for me, was sitting out on his front porch just before dusk when it started sprinkling...warm humid rain. It was wonderful to me....we never get rain in the summer in Southern California.
But I digress..this is your trip, and you've gotten so much done on the first day.
Waiting for more updates and fun "Mom" stories.
Wow!
Date: 2003-05-16 06:57 pm (UTC)I mean, since SOME people on LJ think you are old, you can't be too productive....lol. Besides, it puts us not quite as old in bio years to shame!!!
